The rhythmic tapping of my pen against the desk was sending me into a disassociation episode as I stare blankly at the wall opposite me. 10 minutes until my shift finishes; I could not be more eager to get home. I love my job don't get me wrong, how could working with dogs not be an amazing job? Even though I come home covered in fur and find it in every corner of my home.

The last dog I groomed needed a full fur trim, a big Newfoundland dog; I think I sneezed about 40 times with the amount of fur floating around and getting in my nose.

I was getting deep into my daze, until the back door behind the desk swinging open jolted me out of it.

"You can head home now, I'll shut up shop," my manager spoke.

She was nice, about late 50's, always had her brown hair in a small low ponytail showing off the strands of grey at her roots. She was very short, shorter than me and that's saying something. She always seemed so cheery, but I wouldn't dare get on her bad side. I've seen how that temper can switch, like when a snobby customer tried to complain that we didn't put the pink bow in her dogs fur high enough and demanded a full refund.

I let out a grateful sigh, "You're a gem, thanks Lynn. I'll see you Monday," I say flashing a smile as I pick up my bag.

"See you love," she smiled and walked into the back.

I pack away my phone charger and drink, then get my car keys out my bag. I don't live too far from work, about a 15 minute drive. Work is on the edge of town, the perfect place for people to notice it as they come from all over, though God knows why anyone would want to visit Manchester out of all places. If I could go anywhere in the world, it'd be somewhere in Italy. A beautiful romantic country, somewhere where the views are astonishing and I can fall in love with some hot Italian Mafia boss who fucks me like a whore on every piece of furniture in his mansion but loves me like a queen.

Flicking the dog hairs off my hand, I walk out to the car park.

I click the unlock button, the lights on my black Audi A3 flashing once. Black cars to me look beautiful in the sunset setting; the orange glow has a perfect reflection on the paint. It makes me want to get in and drive anywhere, for days on end, just isolating myself from everything and everyone. But unfortunately, I have a life and can't do that anytime soon; maybe when I get to Lynn's age.

I get in, setting my bag down on the passenger seat. After starting my car, I connect the Bluetooth to my phone and play my music before heading home.

-------------------

I live in the countryside, a nice little road leading up to my driveway where my cosy 4 bedroom house sat. After my dad passed away, he left me a lot of money and with that I was able to get myself this amazing house. Dad was always motivating me to do good; be an independent woman and succeed on my own. Sounds like he didn't want his daughter to be even looked at by a man, which is understandable; sorry to break it to you dad, we're way past that.

I unlock my front door, stepping in my house and closing it behind me. Dropping my bag, I let out a massive sigh as I stretch my back. My whole body is aching, I need a big ass pizza and about a weeks worth of sleep.

After locking the door, I take my shoes off and head upstairs. The grey painted walls compliment the house nicely, the white wood panelled floor matching. The white, grey and black theme has always been my favourite; it's modern but not too in your face. I had little artificial plants dotted around the house, cute artwork in the hallway and the walls up the stairs. It's slowly becoming my dream home.

Normally I'd shower or bath or something, but tonight I just could not be bothered to. I walk into my bedroom and belly drop onto my king sized bed, letting out a massive breath of relaxation. I could literally fall asleep like this and not wake up for a week. The rhythmic sound of birds calling their peace before they sleep for the night was sending me into even more relaxation. I absolutely adore living in the countryside for this exact reason, it's just so peaceful. No neighbours, no traffic noises; not often anyway. I used to live in the city, and don't get me wrong I didn't hate it, but I always had dreams of living in a quiet country house ever since I was a kid. I've always been fascinated by the lifestyle, the feeling of freedom from it; being at peace with yourself and the world. I could rant for days about it.
