Chapter One-Happy Beginnings and Endings

~Storybrooke, one year later~

When Mary Margaret woke up, sunlight was streaming in through the window. It was Saturday, so she didn't have to be at the school. Her husband would be at the sheriff's station with Emma already, though. When Mary Margaret stepped into the kitchen to make breakfast, the evidence of David already being there was in the sink. A bowl and spoon. So he had eaten cereal.

Mary Margaret made herself breakfast and had just sat down to eat when there was a knock on the door. She opened it to reveal Henry, Emma's son, at the door with his dad, Neal.

"Would you mind watching Henry for a bit?" Neal asked. "Emma needs help with something down at the station."

"Sure," Mary Margaret agreed, "has he eaten breakfast?"

Henry nodded. "Yup."

"Okay. Just pick him up when you're done; I don't have anything planned for today."

"Thank you."

Henry stepped through the doorway, and Neal shut the door before heading off to the sheriff's station.

"So, what do you want to do?" Mary Margaret asked. "I haven't eaten breakfast yet, but you can watch a movie or something."

"Okay. What movies do you have?" Despite Mary Margaret being one of Emma's closest friends, Henry rarely went over to Mary Margaret's house by himself. Most of the time, it was for dinner with his parents, Regina, Killian, and occasionally Mr. and Mrs. Gold and Robin-one of Neal's friends.

"I've got plenty of Disney movies," Mary Margaret said, "if you like the classic fairytales. Personally, I've always been a fan of Snow White."

Henry nodded. "I like fairytales. I think Tangled is my favorite. Do you have that one?"

"Yup. Can you get it started yourself?"

"Yeah."

~The Enchanted Forest~

"Be careful, Dearie. You know what happens after you begin the curse."

"Yes, I do. Now, if you don't mind, I have a curse to cast." Regina began to walk away from Rumple's cell.

"You still have to sacrifice the heart of the thing you love most."

Regina ignored him.

"One more thing!" Rumple called after her.

She spun around and glared at him. "What?"

"Should you die before the curse wipes out the Enchanted Forest, Snow White will have no idea what to do. She will have limited time to figure out how to give everyone good memories, so you needn't worry."

"I'm not going to die," the Evil Queen assured him. "I can't win my victory if I'm dead." She disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

Rumple giggled. "The darkness only feeds on the best."

Neal opened the door to the sheriff's station. "You said you needed help?"

Emma looked at him and smiled. "Yeah. Ruby said someone broke into Granny's last night. I need you to go with me to check out the scene of the crime. David has to stay here to look over security footage."

Neal nodded. "Alright. Mary Margaret said she can watch Henry for however long we need."

"We'd better get going. See you later," Emma said to David before she and Neal headed outside to drive to Granny's.
