Dear Diary,

Sometimes I feel the presence of rats. I feel as if they are in my bed, caressing my legs. As well as having this unbearable sensation, I see Louis killing the vampire at Pyramides station over and over again... I see that gloomy, evil basement again and again, where blood and rot mixed with the air, and then that famous rainy evening when Louis and I got lost. Dear Diary, all I can conclude from these recent events is that I'm not mad. I wasted my time at the shrink's.

We left Picardie early, even though I had many questions to ask Louis Gerard. However, my mother had to excuse our departure because of her work. I'm frustrated... In my head, countless images flash by, especially that of the vampire still alive, watching us in the dark. What's going to happen to him? I fear the worst for his life... What's more, Rose Gerard had launched the rat attack in the house. She had detected the presence of a vampire in our house. I wonder if that's why my mother decided to cut our holidays short. Rose Gerard is a hypocrite and dared to make me look paranoid, but the most dishonest of all is my mother! I had the unfortunate impression that she was well aware of this family's dubious practices. I tried to talk to her during dinner at the Gerard's, but she just looked away. My father seems so far removed from all this that I don't want to worry or bother him about it.

Arriving in Paris on a slightly sunny day, I hurried to hide the mysterious book I'd found in the attic... Louis mentioned it on the newspaper article: "If you've received the book, it means you're ready to go. Good luck". I can't solve this mystery, why should I leave? When I think about it, I can't say that the Gerard are a family of vampires, because Louis ate a vampire's heart before my very eyes. This gave him back his strength. How is that possible? On the other hand, Louis didn't mention what species I was. Would my mother know? If so, how can I talk about it with a woman who's always busy? He accused me of possibly being a vampire... That's impossible, I've never been bitten! If I have the mysterious book, it's because I belong to the same species as the Gerards, logically... But I refuse!

Finally, dear Diary, it's true that I've never been disgusted by the sight of blood before, not even the taste of it. When I drank the blood of my cat Papette, I found it both relaxing and strange. In any case, what I'll take away from my holiday in Picardie is the book and the Gerard family, those mysterious images and that voice that never ceases to haunt me. I've got to get back to the Gerard house as soon as possible, or it's going to be a chaotic night for me.
