Chapter 9 - Faithful Loss

Adam

I staggered along the pavement. My clothes raggered and fear in my eyes. Everything just disappeared? How about my family? My mom and dad, my sisters.
I wasn't in the right state as i faltered fown the pathway. I got a few stares and some concerned faces but for all I care I just wanted to see my family. I lost them. That's when it hit me. I lost them. I paused. My breathing gradually getting louder and shaking. I dropped to the floor my body swaying. I could hear my heart in my ears, beating louder and louder at the second.

Reality hit me like a ton of bricks and expected me to pick them up. Power is so cruel. I continued staggering down the path mindlessly till I bumped into someone. My head rushing up to see Liam. It must have been fate that brought us together. We just stared at eachother. Both our eyes dull. Mourning. Rain splattered around us. Two young boys in the middle of the street. Clothes damp. Mourning the death of a loved one. Something came over me. It was like I saw a reflection infront of me.

I wanted to punch him. Someone to put my anger to. But I couldn't. His eyes lost that confidence he had a few weeks ago. Like someone stole all his feeling and left him with an empty soul.

He held his hand out, I didn't feel like holding it. He grabbed it either way.
"Follow me." He said blandly. How much pain did he go through? His hand had a faint touch of warmth. It felt like I was holding a cloud. Who was he holding on to so dearly? I wanted to ask but this silence bought me peace. The coldness of November flushed my body. We walked for ten more mintues till we reached the edge of town. He walked down to the brown sand and sat down. His blond hair rustling in the breeze.

He turned to me. "Sit, here.." He patted on the sand next to him. I sat down. The waves rushing up and down. "What do you want, Liam?" I asked coldly.

"Someone to talk to.." He responded as coldly as I asked. I just stared at him, with pain in my eyes.

"Just for that? I have my own things to deal with..not for your stupid loneliness!" I shouted at him standing up. "Yes, it was stupid, can you call things my fault?" He laughed with tears. He was chocking on his own words. "How can you fix a broken heart, mom?" He looked at his chest. "Sister?" He looked up at the night sky. "Solis..?" He lookes around the area. "Solis.." He was broken. I saw it. He finally looked at me again.

"Can you come back here with me when it's sunny? When I can see Solis?" I stood there silent. He was on the verge of breaking down. "I hate myself for this, Adam, please you get it dont you? I lost everyone, who ever cared for me..this world its cruel!" He got up. "I might aswell change my fate, searching for myself." He ran to the ocean, screaming, wailing. He didn't know how to swim? I sprinted to where he was and I dragged him out the ocean. Both of us coughing. "ARE YOU CRAZY? Do you think whoever left would have wanted you to die like this, this pathetically? Liam, wake up! They all died so you could live..I don't know much but I do know this is cowardness!" He looked up at me suprised. Anger filled his face. As he punched me in the face, I dropped to the floor. The sand felt soft as I lay. "What do you know about me? You caused this!" He pointed at his nose. "I spent money fixing this then a day later my mom got into an accident, the money for her treatment was nowhere! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? FOR ALL I KNOW YOUR LIFE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A BEAUTIFUL FANTASY WHILE PEOPLE LIKE ME STRUGGLE TO FIND A LIVING! Never compare me to you, Do you get it? We are different!" He stood up and walked away.

"HEY!" I screamed behind him. "What do you know? My life has been great? Yeah, surely. DO YOU KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPENED? I lost my family just like that. POOF, they're gone. So stop acting like your story is the worst one. When that's all you've experienced." I screamed whatever was in my head and saw Liam standing there shocked. Shocked for both what I said it and how I said it. I got up and walked by him. "I'm sorry" I shouldn't have said that. I had some bad past with Liam, but maybe I'm starting to realise that he has his own problems to. That day..something came over me, I was so amgry. I unleashed a power that would be the death of me. But maybe..I could use it for good. I countinued walking away to the exit till I heard Liam scream my name. I turned around.
"I'm sorry for what I did to your sister,..I just felt..well I dont know. Strong, but now that I look back it was pretty dumb.." He laughed as he rubbed his head. "The more that I think about it..I feel like im doing exactly what my dad was doing..a reflection of my past? It was an act of a coward.." He was staring at the floor embarrassed, kicking the sand with his shoes. I kind of just laughed.

"Well, that's something you should ask my..sister..for forgivness for.." Wait..my siblings. They're gone. Just that second. Liams phone started buzzing. It had an alert. Red alert? Liam looked back at me slowly.

"We need to go quickly," His words where rushed and panicked. He grabbed my hand and we both went running off back to town.

"Liam? What's going on?.." He just ignored me and kept running forward letting go of my hand as we both kept running. He finally spoke two words.

"Just run.."
