"So you mean to tell me, that I'm some sort of warlock princess thing?!"
"Yes. Kinda. Maybe. Mainly yes."
"How am I supposed to believe you??"
"Umm, ha! Got it! Here, stare at that light." I stared at the light above our heads.
He just explained to me the so called 'true' story of what happened. For realies. Not joking.
He got me to calm down and we were sitting at the island in the kitchen. "Ok what now?"
"Now, what I want you to do, is tell it to change to the color,... green!"
I started doing as he said and nothing was happening. "Is this some sort of joke?!"
"No! I swear! Just trust me. Now, you have to concentrate hard. Tell that light to be green."
"Okay. Here goes nothing." I closed my eyes for a second and concentrated.
Then I opened them and stared at the light. I, in my head, was telling the light to turn green.
A few seconds later, the light shade above us started to fade from a faint white to yellow to finally green.
"Holy shit! Did I do that? Was that me? Are you really telling the truth? You really are aren't you? What do we do now? What else can I do?"
"Nicole." Cole was saying my name while I was just blabbing and rolling with questions. "Nicole. Nicole Nicole. Nicole. Nicole."
I still wasn't listening. "Oh for fucks sake! NICOLE HEAVEN ANDERSON!!!"
"Yes?" I finally stopped and asked nervously and with a sheepish smile.
But before he could say whats next, my 'Mom' stirred on the ground tossing and turning.
"Timetogo!" Cole says real fast. He grabs my wrist and we head out the door of the suddenly unfamiliar house and into the darkness and shadows of sunset.
