Ch. I [1] ♡

[ 1840, London ]

a young, dark-haired man of a 27 reconnected with a university friend.

"Cedric! my good friend! thank you for coming on such short notice," said Brand Clemens, putting his arm around Cedric.

"yes, I was wondering what was so important that you've rushed me over here," Cedric laughed.

the two men met in university that they'd attended in Paris. since then, they were attached at the hip, challenging professors with their quick wits and having trysts with many beautiful Parisian women.

"how've you been?"

"the best I can be, Cedric. the missus and I are planning to take a trip back to Paris before the baby comes."

some years after the two had graduated from the prestigious university, Brand had married into fortune and was soon to become a father. Cedric nodded sadly, for after those years, he didn't have a wife or a child or a mansion. He'd just become... something. he wasn't sure. but whatever it was, he could guarantee that he was no longer human.

now, Cedric could move faster than anyone, hear and see things others cannot, and he possessed the strength of a thousand men. he was covered head to toe in clothing. he couldn't stay in the sun long before his skin sizzled like bacon on a stove top. Brand asked him multiple times if he was hot and uncomfortable in the get up. he was, but he simply couldn't risk exposing himself and causing a hunt.

finally, not to mention, he was always
hungry. always hungry. he was currently on a mission to find her, the one that did it to him.

"I... was also on my way back to Paris soon," said Cedric quietly.

"well! I think we could take the trip together! the three of us. it would be like old times back at the university."

Cedric nodded and sipped some more of his tea. "...of course."

the woman he was on the lookout for gave him wonderful memories before she'd changed him into some unholy creature. the last place he saw her, in a shady tavern / inn, was the first place he'd start. Cedric already had some clues about her on hand from investigating. he just needed a way to connect them all together.
