Kayla's POV:

I was walking around my small apartment trying to get everything ready. I had to leave in a couple of minutes, or else I'd be late.

I finally got ready, I walked over to the door and placed my shoes on before grabbing my keys and rushing out the door.

I made it to my work building about 5 minutes later. I rushed in and checked in at the front desk before making my way to the elevator. I pressed the #5 button and waited anxiously for the elevator to lift.

Once upstairs, I made my way straight to my desk, getting all my things sorted out. I was a few minutes late but I didn't think it would make that much damage.

"You're late." I heard someone growl from behind me. I sat up immediately and turned my head. Once I saw who was standing behind me I rolled my eyes and shakes my head.

It was Emma, my co-worker. She was the chatty, bratty, annoying, and snitch in the whole office. Everyone tried to get away from her, but others just couldn't because she was the one with all the drama, or how I like to call them, 'chisme'. But whatever... I just sinked down on my chair and let out a small sigh.

"Boss wants to see you, make sure to be in her office in 10." And with that, she turned on her heels and walked away. I raise my eyebrows, a lot of thought and over thinking started to go through me. I tried to convince myself it was nothing bad but I couldn't. So I stood up, straighten my shirt, and held my chin up high with a smile as I make my way to her office.

Oof, and there she was. Tania, the boss bitch. I walked into her office after knocking and getting a (come in) from her. So I made my way inside, and allowed myself to sit down on the chair facing her. I could feel the tears burning inside of me but I managed to get them to stay inside.

She turned around and looked up from her paperwork to look up at me. A soft smile tugged her lips before it turned sour like the badass, bitchy face she always had on. I felt the tears again. And before I knew it, one rolled down my cheek. Tania looked at me again, concern replaced the icy look in her eyes a minute ago.

"Oh Kayla sweetheart, there's no need to cry. I promise you it's all good news hun, don't worry about any of that." She said. And I looked at her, I nodded my head a little and wiped away my tear but then looked down at my lap not daring to meet her eyes.

Tania's POV:

I looked over at Kayla, poor girl, she thought something bad was gonna happen. I shakes my head a bit and dropped the papers I had on my hands, onto the desk. I looked at her, her head hung low and I couldn't help but feel bad for her. I let out a sigh and then smiled a little trying to make her look at me.

"Now... look at me, I'm just trying to give you some good news, okay? Nothings wrong, I promise you." I said, and tried to sound as calm as possible,

She nodded and let's out a small shaky breathe before finally looking up at me. I was met with those sweet, innocent, chocolate brown eyes. She smiled a bit and my heart melted at the sight.

I snapped back into reality and finally decided to bring up why I called her in today.

"So, I've been looking through some of your files, and I know your new but I've seen some great work. And I'm honestly flabbergasted by how good you are. Do I decided to give you a raise to being my assistant. I know this sounds too quick, but I really like your work and I think it would be a good idea to keep you around me." I said to her softly.

She looked at me with hopeful eyes and nodded her head. I let out a small chuckle and shakes my head a little then stands up from my seat. I walk over to her and hand her some keys.

"Huh? What are these for, Mrs. Gonzales?" I have her a small smile, she looked and sounded so innocent I couldn't.

"These are for your new office, it'll be the one next to mine. I also needed a new assistant anyways since my other one decided to quit for some reason."  I shrugged. I saw her eyes light up and the stood up. She nodded and excused herself. "Also Kayla, can you stay and maybe do some over time? I need you to fill in some files that my old assistant forgot to do before she left."

She thanked about it for a bit, and then nodded. I gave her a thumbs up and finally let her go. I sit back down on my chair and runs my fingers through my curly hair before going back to the paperwork from before.

Kayla's POV:

I am BEAMING from joy. I got promoted! Awesome! This had to be the best day of my life. Even though the fresh cuts on my body still lingered and left a trail of pain behind me, I ignored them for a split second because I was way too excited to care about that right now.

I went into my new office and grabbed the papers that were left on my desk. I sat down on my chair and opened up my computer to check on the files.

It was around 9pm now. I had lunch, but I didn't eat much because of my eating disorder. It's been going on for a while that's why I'm so thin, but I try my best okay...? I was on my chair and my eyes were starting to get heavy.

I sat back on my chair for a bit with papers still in my hands. I closed my eyes, and at some point I fell asleep right here and there. And my thumb made its way to my mouth. I could feel myself slipping but I didn't really mind since I was gonna take a quick nap.

Tania's POV:

I was walking around the building making sure that everyone was home. I remembered Kayla, poor girl I felt bad for giving her too much work for her to do. But it had to be fine, even though guilt spread through my chest.

I made my way to her office and knocked on her door. No response.

Knock, knock. Nothing.
Knock knock. Nothing again.

I figured she had went home as well, so I slowly opened her door and the sight in front of me melted my heart.

I placed a hand to my chest. Kayla was sitting down on the chair, her body leaned back on the chair, her hair falling on her face, and her thumb stuffed inside her mouth. She was suckling on it peacefully and I didn't want to wake her up. But I had to.

I walked over to her and shook her softly, but she didn't wake up.

I thought for a second before grabbing the papers and placing them aside then shook her very softly again. Her eyes fluttered open and her chocolate eyes were staring into mine now. I smiled softly and once she realized she had her thumb in her mouth she immediately took it out and sat up...
