Wiping off the last table of the diner, Y/n was exhausted. She had been working for almost 2 years at this diner, just to make sure her son had a roof over his head and is well fed. She turned the sign from "open" to "closed". She turned back to Trisha as she walked to the counter, sitting down. "Ugh, I'm exhausted." Y/n groaned.

"We both are." Trisha laughed. Trisha had been working here way longer than y/n. She knows more about this diner than y/n, even if she has been working here for 2 years. Especially the asshole of a boss they had. He was always late on paychecks, payments for the diner, and didn't care much if he had his money. Asshole right?

"Well, I need my paycheck. I have a new life to start and currently, Mr. Late isn't doing his best." Y/n referred to their boss.

Trisha grinned, she knew the life y/n wanted. And she could see her in the future doing something like it, so there wasn't much to blame for how y/n was mad and upset about the horrible payment. They both work their asses off twice as much as their boss, Rick. The door for his office flung open, with big fat Rick walking out in a rush. "Rick-"

"I am going to the bank, please close up properly y/n." Rick cut off Trisha.

Y/n got up from the seat, and followed behind Rick. "Hold on, I need my paycheck. I told you that after this last paycheck, I'm out."

Rick turned around and gave y/n a face. "Well you could wait a little more." He turned back around walking out, leaving y/n pissed.

"You havent even gave us our other paycheck either you dick!" She yelled as he walked away. She scoffed, turning back to Trisha. She walked around the counter, going to the cashier taking the money.

"Y/n I don't think-"

"Trisha, I'm only taking the money I'm owed. Here." Y/n turned to her, giving her money that's owed to her for her paycheck. "We can't just let him get away with this, own your money." Trisha grabbed the money, and stood there thinking. Y/n grabbed the last of hers, and looked at Trisha who was smiling. She grabbed y/n's hand, putting the money in it.

"Take it. You're gonna need it for you and your boy." Y/n smiled, pulling Trisha in for a last hug.

"Thank you." Y/n was beyond grateful for this.

"My pleasure. Go pick up your son, I'll close for tonight." She pulled away, giving y/n a reassuring smile. Y/n smiled back and nodded. She went to the back where the lockers are, getting her items.

"Thank you Trisha. See you around." Y/n smiled, as she walked out giving one last look at the diner.

"See you around y/n." Trisha said, as y/n turned back leaving.

Finally. Leaving that shithole of a place was the best choice in my life, so far. I just hope Trisha finds a way out. I turned on the car and drove off to pick up my son, Joseph from daycare. I didn't have anyone to look after him, it was just me and him. I turned up the radio, the song "Somethings Got A Hold On Me" by Etta James. My passion for singing was something that should be used, and LA is the right place for that. I began singing the introduction of the song, which I love my voice for its raspy-ness when singing. "Ohhhh, sometimes I get a good feeling......"

I pressed play on the recorder we had for music. I looked back at my boyfriend, with my son in his hands. "Ohhh sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah.." I flicked my head to the right, a sharp turn. I looked back at the boys, for only my son to be smiling now. I already knew what he was going to say, so I turned back around and stopped the music.

"Y/n." Jack stated firmly. I turned around to him, annoyed.

"Jack, it's really not that big of a deal. I was just singing for-"

"No, you keep thinking that your voice is going to get you somewhere. Just stop singing! It's annoying already." He walked forward to me, passing Joseph to my hands before walking out the house. I don't get it, I don't get why he gets so mad. I have a dream, not a career of it, yet. I look back up to Joseph who's just staring at me.

"Let's get some sleep, yeah?" I smiled. He nodded his head eagerly before wrapping his arms around my neck as we walked up the stairs for some rest. I'll break up with him soon, he doesn't deserve me anyway.

I lowered the music down as the thought of it coming back to my head. I forgot about it but not in that way. It keeps coming back when something reminds me of it, not because I want to remember it. I didn't understand before, but now I do. Who cares though, I'm leaving his ass anyways. He could kiss it goodbye. I groaned, slouching in the seat as I pulled up to the day care. Thinking about him, makes me sick. I got out of the car and walked into the day care to see Joseph sitting on a chair with one of the staff members. He looked up and smiled, before running up to me hugging my leg. He began to start walking not too long ago, as a two year old. "Hi babes." I bent down, giving him a kiss on the cheek. I picked him up and smiled at Wendy, the worker. "How was he today?"

She smiled. "Good, like usual of course. We had extra fun today since it's his last day."

I smiled and looked at Joseph. "Is that so?" Joseph nodded his head while having his hands on his chin. I giggled and looked back at Wendy. "Well Wendy, thank you so much. For everything. It means a lot."

"No problem, I'll just miss this one. Have a good time in LA, make the most of it." She smiled, before walking back into the room with the other children.

I looked at Joseph who was grinning at me. "I sure will."

As Joseph ate his food I cooked for him, I packed a duffle bag and a suitcase with enough clothes for him, and for me. Two pairs of shoes for both of us, our bathroom items and everything else. He could be home anytime soon, I need to get out of here. I finished up, walking downstairs and putting it by the door. I walked back to the kitchen where Joseph was eating. "Okay Joseph, it's time to go bye, bye."

"Bye bye?"

"Yes, c'mon now." I picked him up, going to the door. I grabbed the suitcase with the bag on the top, walking out. I packed my car with the bag and suitcase, putting Joseph in his car seat, and driving off. I sighed in relief, finally. I looked in my review mirror to see Joseph looking at me through it. "Ready for LA babes?"

"Yes!" He excitedly said, the pronouncing of 's' like a 'th'. I smiled at him. Finally, it's time for me to start MY life.
