I had just returned home from school and ascended the stairs in our apartment building to reach our unit.At home, I lived with my two siblings: my twin brother and my older sister, who had recently given birth to an adorable baby boy named Sincere. He's undoubtedly one of the most charming and endearing little boys in the world, and I like to think I'm his favorite, as I'm often by his side, and he has a tendency to drift off to sleep on my chest.
As I entered the apartment, I couldn't help but notice the unusual silence that pervaded the house. It struck me as odd. I proceeded down the hallway and made my way to my room, where I promptly tossed my book bag onto the floor and kicked my shoes into the closet.
Normally, my mother would be here with us since she doesn't work due to her disability, which is Neuropathy. However, she often spends extended hours in the hospital, typically about ten hours every few months.
After a refreshing shower, I returned to my room to tidy it up a bit. My brother was likely somewhere outside, possibly getting into mischief and engaging in reckless activities. Sharing a room with him was a bit of a challenge, as he wasn't as neat as I am, and I often found myself cleaning up after him. I adore my sister and nephew, but I can't help but look forward to the day when they find a place of their own, granting me the luxury of having my own room again.
I reclined on my bed and retrieved my phone. My initial plan was to get some rest early, but then I heard a knock on the door.
I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed, groggy from a restless night's sleep, and reluctantly opened the door to find Jaden standing on my doorstep. Despite my efforts to shut the door, he persistently wedged his shoe inside, preventing me from closing it entirely.
"What are you doing here?" I exclaimed, frustrated by his intrusion as he nonchalantly swung the door open and strolled in. I couldn't help but roll my eyes; Jaden always had this demanding and aggressive demeanor, relentlessly pursuing his desires, regardless of my protests.
"I wanted to come see you," he stated casually, prompting me to raise an eyebrow before finally closing the door.
"You literally saw me in class just two hours ago; you can leave now," I reminded him as he casually plopped down on my couch.
"I know, but I wanted to see you again," he insisted, pushing my patience to the limit. I made my way towards the door, preparing to open it for him.
"Jaden, what do you want? Seriously, why are you here?" I questioned, my frustration mounting. He simply shrugged his shoulders and motioned for me to join him on the couch.
"Nigga damn. I said I wanted to come see you," he repeated, his voice taking on a hint of annoyance this time.
"But why? We haven't spoken in almost a year," I retorted, attempting to distance myself from his imposing presence. However, he pulled me towards the couch, forcing me to sit next to him.
