I really want to start writing and posting more for fandoms I'm more active in now- some anime, some novels, most likely, and maybe even some original works. I'm kind of growing away from Warriors (though I still hold the books near to my heart), and I really haven't been writing much for it. So yeah idk.

And I know people don't really read these, but if you do- hi. Thank you. It means a lot.

Foxleap x ThunderClan! Reader

Y/N stalked through the forest, each paw step light. She held all her concentration onto the tiny mouse a few tail-lengths ahead of her, nibbling on seed. Muscles tensing, Y/N prepared to make the leap.

"Hey! Y/N!"

The mouse's ears pricked and it quickly skittered away.

Y/N let out a soft growl as she flattened her ears against her skull. Now. It had to be now.

She whirled around the dark ginger tom who had just scampered up to her.

"I hope you're happy, Foxleap. You just made me lose your lunch."

Foxleap playfully narrowed his green eyes at her. "I think I'll survive."

Y/N hissed lightly, winding around him to fetch the magpie she had stowed away earlier.

"What do you want, Foxleap? I assume there's a reason you sought me out." she kept her voice cool and slightly icy, because StarClan knew how much this tom affected her.

Foxleap wrinkled his muzzle at her. "Cold."

Y/N finished digging up her magpie and grasped it in her jaws.

"Can't I just spend time with my favorite she-cat?"

Y/N's fur burned, and she hoped Foxleap thought the lashing of her tail was out of anger.

She kept quiet, afraid she would say something she'd regret later.

Foxleap was quiet, too, as they headed back to camp.

Y/N didn't know how quiet it had been until Foxleap stopped in her path.

She let out a small squeak in protest as Foxleap lowered his head so it was level with hers.

His green eyes scanned hers, just as warm as ever, and Y/N resisted the urge to shiver under his gaze.

"Are you ignoring me?"

His tone was playful, but his face held a seriousness that was uncommon.

Y/N shrugged nervously.

That answer didn't seem to satisfy him.

Hesitantly, Y/N placed her magpie on the ground before steadying to face him.

"Not really?"

Okay, that was the wrong answer too.

"I mean," she hurried to continue as she saw his eyes darken. "I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I've just had a long day."

His expression immediately softened. "Okay. Makes sense."

Y/N shuffled her paws nervously as he didn't move to move away.

"I just want you to tell me when you are ignoring me."

He studied her carefully.

"And I want to know why."

Y/N inhaled deeply. She had never seen this serious side of Foxleap before.

She nodded, and the intensity in his eyes vanished as quickly as it appeared.

He purred as he straightened up, giving her a look that- from any outsider's perspective, at least- showed that he was absolutely smitten.

A playful shadow passed over his face. "Hey, d'you wanna race back to camp?"

Y/N gave him a disapproving look, trying to keep a purr from rising up in her throat.

At that, Foxleap widened his eyes and flattened himself against the ground so that he was looking up at her.

"Please?"

StarClan help me, Y/N thought as she stared at his kit-like expression.

She wrinkled her muzzle as she groaned. "Uh, fine."

Foxleap immediately brightened up and bounced up to his full height. "Yay!"

And for a split second his nose was pressed against the side of her muzzle, and Y/N could've sworn her soul had ascended to StarClan.

She blinked quickly, before realizing the dark ginger tom was already running ahead.

"Hey!" she called after him, breaking into a run.

"That's cheating!"

As his laughter broke through the air, Y/N could only purr and think- Mouse-brain.

Bramblestar yells at her later for leaving a magpie to rot, but she doesn't regret it.

What even happened in the original one-shot? I can't bring myself to read it.

Romance is strange.
