The City Spies people really still don't know what to think about Catherine's ex-in-laws. Pre-Canon.

"... I'm just worried the neighbours are going to hear," Monty heard Catherine say to Tru as they walked into the room where Mother and Monty were sitting.

"Hear what?" Monty asked.

"Cyrus set up target practice for Erica in Alexander's basement," Catherine said. "You know, since she is seven now."

"Are you sure that's safe?" Monty asked.

Catherine sighed. "Erica knows what she's doing, and she's only allowed to do it when Trixie's not downstairs."

"You're not worried about Alexander?" Mother asked, though he was much more concerned about Trixie and Erica than Catherine's arguably idiotic ex-husband.

"He is an adult," Catherine said. "I am also not currently tasked with his safety in any way."

"That is still concerning, you do understand," Mother said.

Catherine just shrugged, because this was absolutely the world she had gotten used to.

"Having regrets about not training your kids yet?" Tru asked Mother.

"No, I can't say I am," he said. "It's nice not being a regular at the emergency room."

"I have only been to the emergency room once with Erica," Catherine said. "Usually it's just Alexander who winds up there. Not that that makes it much better."

"Oh, it does," Monty said.
