Action on the Atlantic
Operation Iron Hail
8 days had passed since the incident, and a lot of things had occurred; First and foremost the change in design of the 'Destiny' instead of the standard hull design to a trimaran type hull, akin to that of the 'Zumwalt' Class Guided Missile Destroyers and 'Independence' Class Littoral Combat Ships. Aaron knew of the probable issues of such a design; number 1 was not much a design problem but an issue with the material used for their construction; Aluminium, while a moderately strong metal and very abundant, was not a material meant to be used for ships that would spend most of their time on the water, and those ships are meant to operate for long periods of time at sea. The results speck for themselves; Many of the class were being withdrawn from service and are in line for decommissioning and 'recycling', mainly due to cracks on the Aluminium Hulls, same case with the 'Zumwalt' Class though for the latter, that's only one. He had already planned to use the material he obtain from the Siren Hulls, well he's been there and currently doing that.
Flashback: 1 Week prior.
Aaron was in his office, having finished whatever paperwork he'd been doing, now at a greater pace thanks to aid from his two appointed secretaries; Hood and London. The three made quick work of the mountain of papers and were currently sat around the small lounge area of the office having a few refreshments and pastries, whilst simultaneously discussing the planned changes for the logistical ships.
"While I agree on the idea Admiral, we don't have access to the plans for both the 'Zumwalt' and 'Independence' Classes, the only trimarans or ships similar to them that have accessible are private vessels such as; Sea Shepperds 'Ady Gil' and 'Gojira'." Hood said.
"We wouldn't need the full blue prints for those ships themselves, only the hull design characteristics and the mechanics of it." He answered.
"Essentially; you plan to make a mongrel of a ship from combining various designs?" London remarked.
"I wouldn't call them 'Mongrels' perse, but that's not to far from the idea, I'll take the best traits of those ships and combine them. If this pans out, then our logistical needs will be met, the design will hopefully ensure that it would meet most of our requirements: multiple cargo type compatibilities, building materials, munitions, liquids such as fuel, resources like food, equipment, etc. The design should also incorporate traits from landing ships. The main goals for the changes in design and ultimately the creation of these ships would be; a ship or ships that could help with and support our non-combat needs. As United States Army General Omar Bradley once said, though this might be an abbreviation of it; 'Dabblers dabble in tactics, amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics'. Personally it should be; 'Tactics win skirmishes, Strategies make or brake battles, and ultimately Logistics dictate the results of War." He explained, as they resumed looking over the design to see if any more changes can be made, and thought of all the possibilities this vessel or a whole fleet of them can bring to the table.
Flashback End.
The changes made in the design proved bountiful, as the prototype was not only stable but fast too, capable of going beyond 33 knots empty and a solid 30 knots fully loaded. Various tests followed that, including firefighting tests, shock tests, and damage control in general; proving the safety and durability of the vessel, a week after said tests, mass production began, along with the modules for various cargo types. The construction process was divided into phases, which will include keel laying, followed by the hull sections being both welded and rivetted on, then the mechanisms and circuitry, and on the side, manjuu scale equipment. Then there was that conversation he had with Queen Elizabeth the day after the incident.
