The abandoned gem : When it all begin.

Chapter 7

They froze in fear as a deafening roar echoed through the shattered village. The ground trembled under their feet as something huge and monstrous approached them. They quickly hid behind the rubble and readied their weapons. Tim grabbed a javelin and hurled it in the opposite direction of the cabin, hoping to lure the beast away.

They held their breath as the thumping sounds faded into the distance. They seized the opportunity to discuss their options. They agreed that James would create another diversion while Tim and Sarah would escort the villagers to the arena, where they hoped to find a safe shelter. As they moved along, one of the elders whispered to them about a secret chamber deep inside the arena, where only the elite were allowed to enter. The elder offered to lead the villagers there while Tim returned to join James in the fight. Sarah followed them closely, making sure they would not get lost or separated.

Tim rushed outside and saw James hurling flaming wood at the beasts. He was stunned by the sight of the creatures, which were three times the size of a human and had terrifying features. He quickly took out his bow and arrows and wrapped some straw around the arrowheads. He lit them on fire and aimed carefully at the beasts. He managed to hit a few of them, making them roar in pain and retreat. Meanwhile, Sarah had reached the locked door, but it was not a simple lock. It required a special key. Sarah ran back to the ruler's court, where she had seen some keys hanging on the wall. She grabbed a golden key that had an odd design and some other keys as well.

She ran back to the door and met Tim and James, who had just driven away the beasts. She told them everything as they went down to the secret room. She tried the keys and finally found the one that fit. They opened the door cautiously and entered first, followed by the villagers. They flipped a switch and the lights turned on, revealing a long corridor with amazing photos on the walls. They walked along and saw images of places and people. They reached a large door at the end of the corridor, which promised to lead them to a new adventure. They realized that it was getting dark soon and they had to go back. Sarah handed the keys to one of the elders. They hid their backpacks in the gladiator's room and ran back up. They took out their necklaces and held the gems towards the setting sun. With a flash, they were back in the boring attic. 

A loud bang on the door jolted the three children out of their fantasy world. Tim rushed to open the door and found his mother standing there, looking annoyed. "What are you doing up there? I've been shouting your names for 5 minutes and you didn't answer! Sarah and James' mothers are waiting for them downstairs, hurry up!". They exchanged a mischievous smile and then Tim said "We were on an adventure". They took off the magical necklaces and followed him down to the living room, where they said goodbye to each other.

Tim felt a surge of curiosity and frustration as his friends left. He had so many questions that remained unanswered. What secrets lay behind that door? What was the ending of his father's journal entry? Why did the elite forbid the common people from entering that place? He vowed to himself that he would find out the answers, no matter what it took. Until then, he would have to live with the nagging feeling that something was wrong.
