“do you ever shut up miel?”
strawberry coloured lips were clamped shut and for a moment, everyone felt as if the sun evanesced. the fairy child uttered not a single extra syllable, made her eyes stay neutral.
“oh. sorry.”
“just joking.” margot smiled.
she smiled in return knowing that sometimes, people referred to stinging statements as jokes after knowing they have done their job of hurting the opposite soul.
miel knew that. her mother had taught her enough. she composed herself, making sure not to give herself away.
fingers clasped, deep breaths, don't let the flame show.
but he knew. he was seeing. he had been for a long time.
