It was an early morning. My routine has significantly changed since Miguel found that alternate universe with his daughter. We used to walk around the Spider Society, making small talk before entering work. However, since Miguel broke the cannon event in that universe, it fell apart and killed his daughter. He hasn't been his usual self; he's been angrier and distant from everyone, even Peter B. Parker and Gabriel. Sometimes, to avoid talking to the other Spidermans, he would make me lead the place and make sure the Spider Society didn't fall apart so he could watch old videos of him and Gabriella. Instead of doing our usual walks before work, I've been picking up coffee from the Spider Cafe and taking it to Miguel's office. I'm the only person he allows in the office during the morning hours simply because of work reasons. He doesn't want to converse small talk with me anymore and goes straight to work. I've been his best friend for many years, and seeing him in this state saddens me.

Before going to Miguel's office to discuss reports and design his new suit, I stopped by the Spider Cafe to grab our usual drinks. "Hello, Dr. (L/n), how are you today, this fine morning?" Gabriel asked. "I'm fine, Gabe. Why are you working a shift at the cafe?" I asked, confused. Gabriell was just like me; we were the only people who didn't have Spiderman superpowers but were very intelligent. He was supposed to work in the laboratory developing the technical features for Miguel's new suit to capture Miles.

"Well (Y/n), I'm just trying new things, and I thought this would be fun." He explained, smiling like a huge idiot.  I signed and ordered the usual drinks. Gabriel hadn't changed since we dated during our teenage years before he cheated on me, but I don't have a grudge against him anymore. "Well, maybe you should go back to the laboratory and do actual work instead of wasting time working at a minimum-wage job," I said as I grabbed my iced matcha latte and Miguel's iced Americano with triple espresso. "Yes, ma'am," Gabriel said, annoyed as he rolled his eyes and handed the off-brand Starbucks apron back to the barista. He can be so damn infuriating sometimes.

I carried the drinks into Miguel's office, and as I opened the door, his back was towards me, so he couldn't see. I started to walk towards him before being caught off-guard when he began to yell, "What the hell are you doing in my office?! I can hear your fucking footsteps. What if I'm nake-." I caught him off by saying, "Well, Miguel, it's your assistant whom you know very well, and in case you forget, we work together in the morning." I explained, smirking as I handed him his drink. The anger on his face switches to a more severe and apologetic look. "Oh, I'm so sorry (Y/n), I didn't realize it was morning; I guess I pulled another all-nighter." Miguel apologized as he took his drink and started to drink it. "Gracias for the drink, let's get to work." He said as he pulled up the reports from his computer.

This is the 4th all-nighter he pulled for this week, and it's becoming noticeable on his face. It looked like he hadn't shaved nor washed his face in ages, and the bags under his eyes became more prominent. The lack of sleep probably contributes to his poor attitude towards others, especially Hobbie and Gwen. "Miggy, I think you should start taking better care of yourself; I mean, I can watch over the Spider Society today so you can recover," I said seriously. "No (Y/n), that's not going to happen; you should know that I'm a busy man, and I'm not going to let anything get in my way," Miguel lectured.

He's such a stubborn, stupid man.
