It was quiet sometime ago, the day my clan was killed. I was the head, I was suppose to protect them, and I failed miserably, I couldn't even save myself. The blood I saw float around me as I watched my clan member get ripped to shreds trying to free himself from the grasp of the sea monster. Why did I choose to take the short route? I could've prevented so much, yet here I was struck with fear that I couldn't even move. My fins gave out as I heard the sound of the children in my clan scream and get ripped to shreds. The sound of the munching just echoed in the quiet deep. The vibration of it's fins thrashing the water as it beheaded my brethren. I didn't escape it's rather though, it grabbed me, it's sharp scales cut my tender flesh, gosh why was Mermaids skin delicate I would ask myself, but it didn't help that Mermaids blood was so sweet and delicious compared to the Sirens. Why was I thinking of Sirens? It's teeth started to sink into my flesh, so slow and painfully. I cried but it didn't help I think that sadistic monster liked my screams of pain because the pain amplified. I saw my blood ooze from my body... the sweet dark abyss soon called as the sweet melody of heaven started.
I rubbed my eyes feeling the lack of sea water reach my face, I could feel myself become a crisp fishstick. That's when my survival act kicked in. I flopped trying to submerge the rest of my body in the water. Get a grip Serenity, where are you? I paused looking around my surroundings. I was on a rocky island. It seemed empty so that was a good thing. I could feel some sort of pushing force increase. I took that as a sign to leave.

I know that being close to the surface was dangerous but I could feel something telling me not to leave. After that little run in with the senti-monster, I couldn't be this careless, could I? Yes, yes I could. I stayed behind my hunting pod for three days just to watch over some Mermaid, or merman in this case. I heard tells of mermaids and how beautiful they were. At first I thought that was some stupid tell, besides its better being rugged and rough then looking like a helpless creature and being one too. Those tells seemed to tell the truth as I saw that Merman finally awake. I saw his beautiful brown-pink-ish eyes clearly under the water. The color combination was odd but on him... well he look gorgeous. He seemed freaked, I mean why wouldn't he be? Besides I'm pretty sure he thought he died, I guess that kind of served as a distraction, we finally slayed that beasty. I was in charge of singing to lure some surviving distraction and the beast to soften. Once it's guard was down that's when the defense crew circled the beast and I continued to sing as the attacked squad went into for the kill. The reason I continued to sing was so the soft link would stay strong on the beast so it wouldn't snap out, wild creatures were some fun because of the challenge. But that's when I noticed the merman. To my surprise he was still alive. Amazing, I remember thinking, it was amazing that he even survived the creatures teeth. Just as my attack squad finished the dismemberment of the beast I quickly made way to the mouth that was slightly still ajar. I opened it and carefully pulled the merman out. I ordered the defense crew to helped put the attack squad, I managed to sneak away and place the merman out in the safest place I could think, the New World.
After I returned, I managed to bullshit something up and I also managed to stay back and watch over the merman. So that's how it came to me watching a merman. That's why I am near the New World, looking at the mermans eyes as he seemed pretty dazed. He seemed so lost and scared. I tried to hold in my laughter, but I was unsuccessful and let out a chuckle.
"Who was that?" I heard from the surface.

I was so flippin' scared. I was out in the surface, in the New World! My tail kept flopping. My sad attempts of trying to get in the water failed. I heard the sound of a laugh. Who was that? I thought before saying it out loud. The sound soon stopped. I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched. I was so uncomfortable. The sky became somewhat dark and I could feel water drop.
