I was thumbing around Eddie's music, taking in all that his cool ass room had to offer. I had waited for months to see it- he clearly was worried about how I'd perceive the trailer, but I genuinely felt at home since I settled in.
He'd told me to choose an album, and once I did, he nodded in approval. "Good choice."
I rolled my eyes. "It's all your music."
He leaned forward, our faces about an inch away. I felt my cheeks tint. Then, he booped my nose with that ringed finger of his. "Any of it would have been a good choice."
"My point exactly." I laughed, tucking my legs beneath myself.
He slid the volume dial up high, then pretty much tackled me into the bed. I grunted, then began giggling. "Eddie!"
"Lana!" He returned, straddling me in my vulnerable state, beginning to prod at my sides to tickle me.
I slap at his hands, my body curling at his touch. I whine, laughing. "Eddie, come on,"
I twist, gripping at his hands desperately. He stops finally, leaning so that he's hovering just above me, arms on either side of my head. His hair is gently brushing my skin. He's grinning so bright, so warm. My breathing eventually returns to normal, and I meet his gaze.
"Am I dreaming?" He muses, eyes boring into mine. "This can't be real life."
"Oh my god, I like you, get over it," I giggle, nudging him off of me. Then, it's my turn to straddle him. I lean forward, propping my head onto the palm of my hand, gazing down at him tenderly.
"Go to prom with me." He decides suddenly.
I raise my brows. "Is that an order?"
"Yep." He pops the 'P'.
"Hmm, let's see," I reel back, tapping my chin playfully. "Tickets are already sold out though, and Steve- well, Steve'll definitely be there, prom king and all-"
"Steve and I are chummy!" Eddie defends, nudging me companionably. "And I already have tickets."
I freeze. "You already have tickets?"
He shrugs nonchalantly, fiddling with his collection of rings. "Have for a while. Wanted to go with you, even if just as a friend."
I blink for a moment, then I hit him with a pillow. Hard.
"Hey, hey! Easy on the goods, come on, man- I thought you'd want to go!" He elucidates, covering his face from the assault.
"That's why I got so mad at you!" I grump, throwing the pillow aside. He jumped at the action. "I wanted to go to the dance- I thought you weren't interested or something- and you've had the tickets all along!"
He raises his hands up in surrender. "Hold your fire, watch the face- I don't like dances. They're basically just parties except we pay the school for these ones and they don't supply booze. But I thought you probably would want to make an appearance. And I wanted to see that."
I analyze him for a moment, then sit back on my heels, heaving a shrug. "It's my first prom. It's a right of passage. Plus they'll probably make me prom queen or something."
Eddie sits up straight in an instant, our faces inches away from colliding. His eyes were wide and his voice was filled with giggly awe. "Dude, I'm dating the Prom Queen."
"Dating?" I responded, regretting the question instantly.
He crumpled, creating a little distance between us. "Shit, sorry- got a little carried away I guess- I'm totally cool if you don't want me to uh, be seen with you, I guess-"
