...6 YEARS LATER...

Misty P.O.V

Prying myself awake from the childhood memories, I grumpily pulled off the warm comforter and got out of bed. I couldn't get those orbs out of my head. They just seemed to float around in front of my eyes. I didn't let it get to me, it was Saturday, and most of the other younger children were outside playing and laughing, while everyone else separated into their groups to talk. Everyone except me. My mom heard I was up and called me downstairs.

"What?" I asked grumpily. I hate mornings...wait, it's like 10:00 already. Eh, I don't really care. I just hate getting up.

"You should go outside and meet some of your friends."

"You know they don't want to be seen with me." I stated. My mom thinks everyone is my friend when really most of them are just popular stuck up bitches (pardon my French). I'm more of the quiet athletic type and have found some actually decent people since moving into the Everforest Pack. It's an odd name I admit, but our forests are mostly pine trees so it makes sense.

My mother sighed and gave me a disapproving look. I shrugged my shoulders and climbed back upstairs.

Once back in my room, I texted my best friend, Nick. Yeah it's a guy, so what? We planned to meet at the park in the center of our little town. I should probably get ready. I look for some skinny jeans and a tank top. I quickly glanced at my body length mirror against the door. My 5'2" frame can easily fit within the mirrors frame. I don't enjoy being short but hey, what are you supposed to do about it? My hair is wavy just like my mother's, but a shade lighter than her hair due to my father's dirty blonde locks. I don't bother with make-up, not my thing.

I realized it was probably going to be chilly so I grab a light sweater to go over my shirt and sauntered back down the steps. If there is one thing to like about my house, it's that the stairs go into the kitchen. It's a strange design yet very useful for late night snacks or a quick breakfast before school. Sadly, my mom was still there playing on her IPhone. Please don't see me, please don't see me. I thought quietly.

"Where are you going?"

Fuck.

"Nowhere...." I feebly try to lie.

"Misty," she warns.

"To see Nick." I shrug. What's the big deal? We've been friends since we were in diapers.

"Oh, I see. Well, have fun." My mother replied suggestively.

"You know he's just a friend who already has a MATE." I stressed the word 'mate' so she gets the message. Nick is good looking, but I don't see him that way. His hair is almost black and his eyes are light blue, an odd combination, but I guess I shouldn't judge eye color. He's fairly tall, 5'7" or so, with a muscular build but not over muscled like a bodybuilder. I'm actually good friends with his mate, but my mom bringing that up in that way is just creepy.

"Relax dear, just having a good laugh."

Yeah, at my expense...Parents sometimes. I just ignored her and continued through the kitchen into the family room, living room, whatever you want to call it. There's a TV mounted on the wall and a couch facing it with another couch against the wide front window of the house.

We aren't rich nor poor and having your dad be third in command helps pay the bills along with some awesome extras. However, the Alpha is like completely made of money, I swear. They live in a mansion with tons of cool expensive shit. They make us look homeless compared to them. Okay, so I'm exaggerating a bit....Lost my train of thought....Oh yeah, next to that window is my main objective, the door.
