In December 2005 Erik and Annie Moore decided to take their kids, who were on college break, on a vacation.
They were going to be on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean as none of them have ever been on a cruise before. They were only supposed to be gone for 12 days, but they were gone for two months.
A search team was sent out, but after two weeks of nothing they were about to give up, until one of the pilots spotted burned, soggy driftwood. They followed a trail of the same driftwood like breadcrumbs, and found evidence that the cruise ship had been set ablaze and exploded in the ocean.
They spotted a person weakly clinging to a large chunk of debris. It was discovered that Olivia Moore was the sole survivor of the shipwreck as Erik, Annie, and Aidan's bodies were never recovered.
Olivia didn't speak or tell anyone what happened or why there was a drastic change in her appearance. Doctors believe that due to stress of the trauma she experienced, Olivia's body was simply displaying the trauma.
Olivia didn't speak again until mid March, and even then she didn't tell anyone about what happened. Amnesia, the doctors explained again.
Olivia carried on as if nothing had happened, but Charlie, her maternal uncle, could see that she still wasn't truly okay.
Two weeks later, Bella, Olivia's cousin, announced that she would be moving in for the remainder of the school year.
