Jeon Jungkook feels as though he's invading, when he stands from a distance, watching as Park Chaeyoung lets out the most heart-wrenching cries as she sits beside his body, her hand closely clasped with his.
By now, his face had turned pale white, and despite all the efforts from the greatest sorcerers of the North, it was no use.
He was still breathing, however, hooked into a medical device that he wasn't specifically aware of, with doctors and nurses among the sorcerers as they looked at the monitors.
"Please Taehyung... hold on for me, just a little," she begs, pleading as she puts her hand over his chest once more, "... take my magic, let me take your place."
All he can do is watch as one of her staff comes to her side, "... your majesty, please... you need rest too."
And Jeon Jungkook would never forget the absolute defeat on her face as she turned to face the staff, her eyes swollen red as she whispered, "... he gave it all—for our nation, we can't let him go without a fight."
Jeon Jungkook knows that despite the odds, everyone in the room didn't have the heart to tell her, that all hope was lost.
Right then, Jeon Jungkook hears the sound of the door opening, and a panicked Jung Hoseok rushes from the door.
Shit.
They'd teleported and forgotten about the driver outside.
The older gentleman looks like he's about to complain before he sees the scene in front of him.
And all he could do was give her a look, the same look that everyone did.
"I'm so sorry."
And Jeon Jungkook was too.

Life had to move on, at least for him as the King of Busan.
Over a week had passed and Jeon Jungkook had to focus a lot on his own kingdom, knowing that the date for his marriage was fast approaching.
"I can't go through with it," he tells his advisor one day, an exhausted sigh from his lips, "... it's wrong."
Jung Hoseok gives his leader a curt nod, knowing the sentiments. But it was his duty, for moments like these, to be the voice of reason.
"We will find a way," he promises—a promise he knows he can't make, "... but for now, we need to be the eyes, especially with how tense things are. They can't suspect a thing."
The day following the return of Madam Park Catherine's ashes caused complete havoc in the South. He'd heard from Princess Kim Jisoo, his fiance, that her father and mother wanted to start a war, seeing that something was stolen from the kingdom. She claimed she didn't know what.
From what he knew, the South were looking to invade the North.
He needed to do all that he could to stop it, one being reasoning that bloodshed wasn't a good way to begin their marriage.
There was a time when the thought of marriage made him excited. Of course, he hadn't loved her as anything more than a friend, but the idea of ruling and unifying Busan with the South was great—they had four times as much manpower and six times as much military power as he did.
Yet now, she shudders at even the thought of her name.
"Can we visit the North?" Jeon Jungkook questions.
For the last week, Jung Hoseok refused, claiming that it was too dangerous and that the South would suspect something.
To his surprise, he agrees.
