Xavier felt restless. He hadn't seen Wednesday since their walk. She saw something before he came. He managed to ask her what she saw but she refused to speak of it.
There was a lump in his throat. He felt like clawing at his neck to take it out. He sighed and everything went black.
Wednesday, walking through the dark hallway,
her breathing sped up.
The flashlight dropped from her hand,
He came back to reality. Fuck. He cursed as he slipped on his shoes. He stumbled out the door and sprinted, turning on each turn until he could hear something.
It was pitch black, the only light coming from his phone. His heart pounded in his chest as he heard a wet squelch coming from a corner. He was now in the furthest side of the school.
The artist stuck his head to get a glimpse of the source of the sound. He felt like his heart stopped as he watched the scene.
Laughton's eyes pulled out of their sockets. His skin being shredded, piece by piece, blood streaming each time. Maybe it wasn't the state of the boy. Maybe it was what was doing it.
A figure, crouched over the barely alive body. It had a face but it wasn't normal, quite deformed actually. Its mouth stretched vertically on his face, revealing a set of thin, long teeth. Its nose looked like a humans but without any skin or muscle over it. Its eyes were hollow and dark. It was probably around eight feet tall.
Xavier jerked his head back up when it slowly raised his head. It continued pulling out Laughton's intestines when it didn't see anything.
He felt like he couldn't breathe. He'd just found the cause of all the kills. Xavier felt like he was forgetting about something. Shit. Wednesday.
He went back the way he came from and prayed she would randomly walk out of one of the hallways like she always did.
Wednesday walked cautiously as she felt a presence from the corner. She slowed down her pace and lowered her flashlight. She poked her head and sensed a wave of relief wash over her.
Xavier froze when he saw two braids hanging from the corner. He sprinted to her,
"Oh my god, I was so worried about you..." He said as he engulfed her in his arms.
"H-How did you know I was out?"
"I saw you. In a dream."
He felt her body stiffen and her breath hitch. She stared over his shoulder.
"Hey...what's wrong?" Xavier held her by either side of her arms. Wednesday was still staring behind him. He felt his heart come up in his throat.
The creature stood at the end of the hallway. It let out an ear piercing screech as it hurried towards them.
Xavier didn't think twice and made a run for it as he held Wednesday close. He decided on hiding in his dorm. It was the closest and safest option.
They were only a few more steps away from his room. She slammed open the door when they reached and locked it.
"What the fuck is that?!" Xavier couldn't breathe. The raven haired girl was speechless.
"Are you hurt?! How long were you out there?!"
"Xavier. I'm okay. You don't need to worry about me." She replied with a shake in her voice.
"You don't get it, do you?" He sighed, still shaking.
