The loud hung rang three times, signaling the start of the next class. The dragonets had just finished lunch and it was time for the fifth class of the day.
Nightstar sighed softly to herself as she watched her best friend walk down the hall to her science class.
She stood in the hallway for a few more moments she walked to her own class with Neptune and Everest right beside her.
"We're not gonna be late, are we, Star?" Everest asked her as the three dragonets turned a corner and found the right cave.
Neptune chuckled softly and rolled her frosty blue eyes in fond exasperation. "Don't be such a worrywart, Everest." The IceWing laughed and gave the SkyWing dragonet a playful shove.
As the three dragonets entered the classroom, they quickly took their seats and waited to see what would happen next.
Alright students," the teacher began, turning and facing the class as she spoke. "Today you will be working on your storyboard presentations."
Nightstar noticed that half the class give groans of protest.
The NightWing sighed softly and rolled her eyes in response to this reaction.
"How does this relate to science?" Solstice asked, blinking and staring at the teacher with a confused look on her face.
If Nightstar remembered correctly, Solstice was in the Emerald Winglet.
The teacher, an IceWing named Iceberg, blinked and shook her head in exasperation. "Because it's a group effort, Solutes. This assignment will be at least 10 points added to your grade."
Nightstar's eyes went wide and she turned to face Neptune and Hurricane, both of whom looked just as surprised as she did.
Wow, what a shocker! This'll be a huge project added to my grade! Nightstar silantly mulled the teachers words over and over in her mind as she awaited to see who her groupmates would be.
Iceberg sighed and stood up straight.
"Now, onto your groups. I'll be deciding them so no whining if you're not with your friends." She said the last part with a tone that gave no room for protest.
The students all gave a collected groan in response.
Nightstar zoned out her teacher's voice until she heard her name being called. Knowing that she needed to pay attention, the young NightWing snapped her head up and focused her gaze on her teacher.
"The final group will consist of: Nightstar, Everest, and Neptune." Iceberg read aloud from the scroll, her eyes landing on the three dragonets in question as she spoke.
By the time class had let out for the day, Nightstar and the rest of her winglet had all gathered in the study cave.
It was silent for a short while before the SeaWing member of their winglet spoke up in an attempt to break the ice.
"So, what exactly are we meant to do for this project?" Lobster asked, his light green scales glowing in the fain light that the torches provided.
This time, it was Sandstorm who spoke up to answer his question.
"We have to right a historical essay about one of the dragons from the past." She replied with a shake of her head.
"Should we do research on Queen Anaconda?" Pipped up Silver from her place next to Mudslide.
The others all shared a glance between each other before turning to face Silver.
"Sure, why not?" Neptune told her with a shrug and and flick of her spiked tail.
"How about the NightWing and IceWing war?" Everest chimed in with a hesitant smile.
Neptune shook her head. "I overheard the Jade Winglet discussing that topic, so that's out of the question." The IceWing was quick to shoot her idea down.
"So where does that leave us?" Brightstar jumped into the conversation.
"Back to the drawing board." Neptune responded with a heavy sigh.
"We'll think of something, I know we will." Nightstar said, trying to stay positive. Nightstar was never good at history or science.
"Yeah, Shadowhunter's right. We'll think of something, I knew we will. And besides, we have a lot of time to think of something." Neptune said, finishing her last math problem. Nightstar smiled warmly at the IceWing dragonet, who smiled right back at her.
