I awoke in the middle of the night for the third time in the span of a week. I was haunted by nightmares of my sister and my two best friends dying. I slowly made my way to my sister's bedroom, she always knew when I was having a nightmare, It's kind of funny, because I'm the one with NightWing powers, not her.

"Hey, Clearfrost? Are you awake?" I quietly called out as I slowly entered the room. I saw my sisters eyes open and she sat up in her bed, a worried look on her face.

"Did you have another nightmare, Wave?" She asked, using the nickname she knew would bring me a little bit of comfort.

I could only nod slowly in response. Clearfrost opened her wings and I quickly and quietly wrapped my wings around her in a tight embrace.

"I'm sorry for bothering you again, Clearfrost," I mumbled into my sister's shoulder. Clearfrost lifted my chin and spoke to me in a kind and gentle voice. "You can't help it if you have nightmares, and your not bothering me. You can always come to me if you have a bad dream, you know that, don't you?" My sister asked, smiling down at me. I gave a watery smile in response.

After a few moments of silence, Clearfrost spoke up in a quiet whisper. "Hey, Wave? Do you want to know a secret?" She asked and I nodded in excitement. "Well, I still have nightmares sometimes. It's something that every dragon or dragonet have sometime throughout their lifetime." My sister explained gently.

"Do I have nightmares because of my powers? Is there a way to get rid of them?" I asked, looking up at Clearfrost with teary eyes. "Oh, Nightwave. You can't just get rid of your powers, they're a gift, not a curse." Clearfrost said southingly. I lowered my head and stared down at my talons. I didn't want to have these powers, but I was the one born under three full moons, not my sister. I choked on a sob and buried my face into Clearfrost's shoulder.

"Why did I have to be born with these NightWing powers? And isn't 'Wave' a SeaWing name? I'm part IceWing, not SeaWing." I said after I had finally calmed down. My sister laughed quiatly in response to my little observation.

"I don't know, they probably weren't really thinking much about it at the time. But I like your name, it may be strange for a NightWing-IceWing hybrid, but I think it's a pretty unique name." I looked up at my sister with a soft smile. I wrapped my wings around clearfrost in a tight embrace.

"Hey, Clearfrost? Why weren't you born with any NightWing powers?" I asked after a few moments of silence. Clearfrost shrugged and twitched her tail in thought.

"Hmm... I'm not sure, I never thought about it before. But still... I don't really know the answer," she said once she found the right words to explain it. I slowly nodded in response. Although... now I was curious, where did NightWing powers orientate from? How were they created? I was suddenly brought out of my train of thought when Clearfrost spoke up once more.

"Now enough questions, it's pretty late and we both need to get to sleep. Tomorrow's a big day so we need to be at least somewhat rested." Clearfrost scolded gently and I nodded in understanding.

I wonder what will happen tomorrow? Those were my last thoughts before sleep claimed me.

The next morning I was awoken by the sound of birds chirping outside and by my sister telling me that breakfast was ready.

With a sigh, I slowly sat up and rubbed my talons over my eyes. I then stretched out my claws and made my way ti the kitchen where Clearfrost was already sitting at our small wodden table.

Our house wasn't very big, but it suited our needs just fine. It was kinda small with two bedrooms, a small kitchen table, and a small living room with a brand new couch and a fire place. A NightWing named Hope often came to visit and she would sometimes bring her son, Peacemaker, along with her to visit. And sometimes another dragonet would bust us from time-to-time. Her name's Moonwatcher. And no, not my friend, Moonwatcher, this Moonwatcher is much older.

I don't know when I finally fell asleep, but when I next awoke, it was to Clearfrost shaking my shoulder gently. "Nightwave, wake up. It's breakfast time." I slowly pealed my eyes open and sat up. I then followed my sister into our small kitchen.

"I made your favorite, frozen fruit popsicles!" Clearfrost exclaimed happily. I smiled and stared down at my ice-colored scales. Me and my sister are both part IceWing. However, I have more IceWing characteristics. Even though my sister looks more like an IceWing, she has more NightWing characteristics.

"Thank you, Clearfrost!" I cheered happily while tackling my sister in a hug. She laughed and huged me back.

While we were eating our breakfast, Clearfrost told me some exciting noose. "We've been invited to join the Jade Mountain Academy. Isn't that exciting? We might even be in the same winglet."

I smiled brightly as I finished the last of my breakfast. "I hope so, that would be so cool if we were," I said and we both laughed at my unintended IceWing pun.

"I already packed our things last night, so you don't need to worry about that. I packed you a lot of scrolls, both to read and to write on. I also packed you some ink and ink wells and that neckless and two chains you love to wear so much."

I sighed in relief and smiled up at my older sister. I had just been panicking about what I should pack, but lucky for me, Clearfrost had already taken care of it for me. She knows me in and out like a book.

"Thank you, Clearfrost! Wow, sometimes I forget that you can read me like an open book!" I said while giving my sister a soft smile.

"That's because you're my sister, of course I know what you like, what you don't like, and what calms you down after a nightmare," Clearfrost pointed out with a small laugh.

"Hey, Dreamseaker! Hey, Moonwatcher! Come over here!" I called out to my two best friends once we had landed. The two dragons in question turned around and ran up to my sister and I with wide smiles on their faces. "Are you guys going to Jade Mountain Academy as well?" I asked them with a wide grin on my face. My two friends nodded and my smile seemed to grow even wider.

"You wish Peacemaker was here, don't you?" Clearfrost teased me with a cheeky grin on her face. I pouted and looked down at my talons. "Clearfrost!" I pouted childishly. My sister laughed and patted my head.

"Oh, so you like Peacemaker?" Moonwatcher asked me with her own cheeky grin. I scowled and glared at my friend.

"Okay okay, let's stop teasing Nightwave." Dreamseaker suddenly chimed in to stop them from teasing me.

"Thank you, Dreamseaker," I said, giving her a great full look and she gave me a warm smile in return.

"Now come on, let's head inside," Clearfrost said, motioning to the cave entrance with her tail. We all nodded and made our way inside the cave opining.
