-Jermaine-

I looked up to see the same hand-on-hip stance from a few nights ago. I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.

Lord, what are you trying to tell me?

-Ashanti-

"Oh I'm the stalker?" He uses his knees to push himself up out of the seat. "But you show up at my uncle's auditions..."

"Your uncle?" I slowly turn on my heels to see Mike and Jason watching this unfold. Mike gave me a shrug and Jason looked just as clueless.

"I see you've already met my nephew... He will be playing Dontae." Jason said with a raised eyebrow.

"He'll be playing Dontae?" My mouth was practically on the floor.

"Why you repeating shit?" I turn back and Jermaine's look of confusion had turned into a sly grin. "Nervous?"

Suddenly, I snapped out of it and got back on track.

"Not at all actually." I walked back over to Jason and set my headshots on the table then adjusted the cuffs on my shirt. "I'm ready."

Jason nodded and motioned for me to stand on the duct taped "X" on the wooden floor. I did as I was asked and waited for Jermaine to take his place on the second "X". My back was turned to him but I could still see the arrogant look on his face.

Don't let him throw you off your game Ashanti.

"Action." Jason called from his seat and rested his chin in between his thumb and index finger.

"You're crazy, Layla! I can't believe I've put up with this bullshit for so long!" Jermaine stated.

I bolted around with sudden, passionate anger in my expression.

"Nobody forced you to! You chose me Dontae! You fucking chose me! I warned you from the jump and you still chose me!"

"Well did you ever think that maybe it was because I loved you? Huh? I loved you. I cared about what happened to you." We made eye contact and I broke it, clutching my arms as if I was cold.

"Well that was a mistake." I stared daggers into the  floor and allowed an awkward silence.

-Jermaine-

She's killing this. No way she doesn't get this role.

I walked up to her slowly, trying to drag out the dramatic effect. I lifted her chin up to me and she looked at me with wide eyes.

"And I'd make it a million times over." We stared into each others' souls, analyzing one another. I wanted to know everything about her, and I wanted to know it now.

The trance was cut short by a slow clap from Jason. We both looked over at him to see his eyebrows were raised and it was almost like he was hesitant about interrupting us.

"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Layla and Dontae." He motioned for Mike and the other producers to clap, and they did. Ashanti turned her full body towards them.

"Are you saying I got the part?"

"Well I say we ask my nephew. What do you think Jerm?"

I stayed silent as the whole room turned their attention to me.

"I mean shittt..." I looked around awkwardly. "You did great."
