"Oh God Jenna I can't believe I let that guy almost trap me!" I jeered while sitting with her and laughing about all the shit he did to me. I can't lie, I was too deep in 'love' to know that he was draining me of everything considered positive. I got out when I did, and I won't look back. Jenna chuckled as she set down her mixed drink. It was nearly gone.
"Remember that time you blocked me for a whole month—"
"I told you—he did that, and I didn't realize it until I was fucking around with my settings..! I was so mad.." I groaned at the reminder, seeing his attempt at a puppy dog face turn into a raging bitch that night was kinda my final straw. A year and a half later and I still remember it. What was his end goal? I would never stop talking to Jenna.
She got me to London in the first place. I had to leave my hometown, it was so small and everyone knew everyone. When I lost my virginity my whole block had conversations about me till I graduated public school.
"At least he's gone now. But hey, I knew you didn't mean it...I was gonna wait years if I needed to. We're sisters at this point." She smiled and held my hand. I smiled back at her, well I'm sure it looked like a mess since I was just as drunk as her. I missed this feeling the most. I bet afterwards when we get home she's gonna order our night out meal and we'll pass out on her bed like always.
I love this girl.
"Yeah...think you can wait now? I gotta pee." I chuckled and grabbed my purse that was squished in between us. Jenna nodded as she babysat her drink.
"Afterwards, let's leave! Gotta get the food before McDonald's close." I smiled at her as I walked (barely) to the bathroom.
There's nothing compared to emptying your bladder while plastered, feels like Niagara Falls..
After finishing I went back to our section, but Jenna wasn't there? Did she forget about me? Hell no, I didn't even take ten minutes!
I wandered the entirety of the club but no spot of her dress. Hopefully she's outside, the club won't let me back in if I step out..
I walked outside and turned my head, the cool breeze hitting my face and forcing me sobriety quicker than I preferred. I don't wanna be a square and worry people by shouting her name, so I'll just wander for a bit—
"You're friend's round the corner lip locking security." I turned my head at the sound of a voice, and saw a guy, covered in arm tattoos, blowing on a cigarette.
"Huh? Ho-how'd you know she's my friend?" I asked with my face scrunched up. I could barely make out his face...but, something tells me he's okay to talk to. He chuckled before pinching the cigarette out his mouth, exhaling before he spoke.
"There's this girl with white shorts, she's gonna come looking for me. Tell her to stay here till I get back~..." I raised a brow and kept quiet.
"...Her words, not mine." I made an 'o' shape with my mouth when I realized what he was talking about. I then furrowed my brows when I remembered tonight wasn't about guys.
"You smoke?" The guy spoke again, and I turned my attention to him. I eyed the box of cigarettes he had in his hand and I couldn't help but to stare at the details of his hand tattoos. I realized he was waiting for me to speak and I came up with something.
"I guess I can kill time." I shrugged and took a square. He handed me his lighter and I took it, noticing that it was a white lighter.
"Y'know these are bad luck.." I mentioned after handing him back the lighter after I lit my cigarette. The guy chuckled as he got the lighter and placed it in his front pocket along with his pack.
"M'not a believer of luck. Fate maybe...not luck." I nodded at him, the cigarette a lot more interesting since it was like heaven to me right now. I get why people smoke after drinking. I can't even taste the nicotine but I'm getting the buzz like usual. I pulled the square from my mouth before speaking.
"Then, is it fate for you to tell me your name?" I asked cheekily. The guy hung his head before laughing to himself, like this interaction reminded him of something.
"I'm Zayn..and you are?" My own smile came after a successful attempt to get his name.
"Alexis. Nice to meet you, Zayn." I said, puffing on my square some more.
"So, you come here often..?" He asked, and I knew he was only speaking to pass the time, but I was grateful. I'd rather have a mindless conversation than think about what my friend was up to.
"Nah, well—I used to, and I'm starting to again." I shrugged and leaned against the wall to steady my balance. How the hell does it feel like I have two left feet?
"What made you take a break?" He asked and his tone sounded like he was interested, but I'm too drunk to analyze anything right now, so I'll just entertain.
"Ex."
The guy made a sound as if someone had just gotten hurt. Playfully might I add. I glanced at him to see him glancing at me.
"Sorry that happened, Y'know relationships can be tricky." He shrugged while puffing on his square. I copied his actions, studying his body that seemed laid all the way back. He looked so relax.
"Yeah? You must know about em then." I mentioned, wondering if he had a girl waiting on him inside. Zayn just shook his head to my surprise.
"Nah, I'm too tricky for a girl."
The hell? The unexpected answer made me giggle uncontrollably. Who even says that?
"What's that supposed to mean?" I fought through my chuckles to speak, my smile wide and uncaring. Zayn just shrugged.
"Whatever you want it to mean babe." I could sense he's starting to shut off. Egh, I might've tugged a cord. No matter, I'm not in the mood to console anyone right now. Not when I need consoling.
I nudged his shoulder which got him out of whatever he was about to be lost in.
"Well, I'm gonna take it as being the reason why you're here. I'm just now learning how tricky those relationships can be, which is why fate must have brought us here." I mentioned, seeing a fresh smile on his face after I spoke.
"You're—"
"Alexis! Justin is taking us home!" Jenna's voice cheered from around the corner, my best friend lugging back a nearly passed out security guard. The hell did she do to him?
"Oh! Okay! Be right there!" I replied and out the square on the floor, stepping and twisting my foot on top of the cherry. Zayn kept quiet as I looked at him. I tilted my head.
"What were you going to say?" I asked patiently. Zayn just shook his head and went back to smoking.
"Nothing, love, enjoy the rest of your night." He retorted, the familiar cold tone coming back. Ugh, I'm too drunk for this. I shrugged and waved him off.
"Fate has it I will! I got a burger with my name on it in twenty minutes!" I said happily, flashing a gummy grin as I walked away to the security's car.
