Chapter 34 – Wrong Person
Luo Bei was in pain. She subconsciously turned back, her eyes colliding with Lei Yuhao’s.
Zhao Pianpian’s dress fit perfectly with Luo Bei. Before she got pregnant, her physique was similar to Luo Bei’s. The two had similar skin tones and looked kind of similar from the back.
Lei Yuhao was here to attend a banquet. His business partner was staying in this hotel. When he came out of the hotel room, he saw a woman in the corridor.
For a moment, his heart jumped to his throat.
Zhao Pianpian’s favorite color was lavender. Most of her dresses were in this color. Lei Yuhao didn’t remember all of her dresses but he had a vague impression of this one.
Logically speaking, it was impossible for Zhao Pianpian to be here, but his body couldn’t lie. He didn’t even try to make sense of the situation before pulling such a ridiculous action of grabbing an unknown woman, thinking it was her.
Luo Bei was surprised. She didn’t expect to see Lei Yuhao here, nor did she expect Lei Yuhao to grab her.
But she quickly knew why. Could it be because of her dress?
Zhao Pianpian had been his secretary for a few years and attended many dinners. Zhao Pianpian had only worn this dress once, how could this all-important CEO remember?
What should she say?
The plot had not reached their reunion, she couldn’t give herself away. If Lei Yuhao noticed something suspicious with her and investigated her, it would only be a matter of time before he found Zhao Pianpian.
As Luo Bei struggled to find words, Lei Yuhao had already let go of her and sincerely apologized, “My apologies, miss. I mistook you for someone else.”
After saying this, he didn’t even look at Luo Bei and left immediately.
Luo Bei breathed a sigh of relief. Why was she overthinking? Zhao Pianpian wasn’t custom-made. It was normal for others to have the same dress. Lei Yuhao wouldn’t be suspicious because of one trivial detail.
She was actually very conflicted. Lei Yuhao was Baby Chen’s father, he was also Zhao Pianpian’s lover and future husband. Zhao Pianpian was now her good friend and there were times when she looked at Zhao Pianpian and thought how she must be struggling raising a child alone. She would then think, how great would it be if Lei Yuhao could find Pianpian earlier, that way Pianpian wouldn’t be struggling as much as she was now. Last time Baby Chen fell ill, she was so anxious that she couldn’t close her eyes for two days in a row. She didn’t need to be struggling and tiring herself out like this.
But after the year-end party was over, the cold wind slapped sense into her as she walked out of the hotel.
Even if she knew others’ future, she shouldn’t willfully change it, right?
Why should she play God and use the excuse of doing it for their good to change people’s lives without their approval?

Luo Bei changed out of her dress into her own. It was quite late and it was very cold outside. A male colleague offered to send her home but she refused.
Unsurprisingly, she didn’t win the grand prize, only receiving a 300 yuan voucher.
When her taxi finally arrived in the slums, it was already ten o’clock in the evening.
Luo Bei was exhausted, she had a newfound respect for MCs. She was startled when she reached the third floor.
The corridor wasn’t brightly lit. A little boy was sitting down against the door.
It’s like a scene straight out of a horror movie…
When Luo Bei made a sound, the boy looked up at her, expressionless.
Luo Bei squatted down in front of him and said warmly, “Little Jingzhou, why are you alone? It’s winter now, careful not to catch a cold.”
The little boy didn’t have Chen Lan’s surname. His name was Fang Jingzhou, he was going to turn five in spring.
He hesitated and said, “I came out to throw the trash. The door closed on me.”
“Then why don’t you knock on the door?”
“She’s not home.”
Luo Bei understood. She reached out and touched his little hand. It was cold as ice. She wanted to pull him inside but he subconsciously evaded her.
“I’ll call your mother. It’s cold here. Would you like to come to my house and sit for a while? You’ll have to get an injection if you fall sick.”
Fang Jingzhou hesitated for a moment. Instead of holding Luo Bei’s hand, he stood up on his own.
Luo Bei led him inside. Grandma Luo was asleep at this hour. Luo Bei called Chen Lan while she looked for a blanket for him to cover himself with.
It took quite some time for the other party to answer the phone. Luo Bei didn’t know where she was but it was very noisy, she couldn’t understand what Chen Lan was saying.
“Chen Lan, your son accidentally locked himself out when he was throwing out the trash. He’s at my house now, can you please come back?!” Luo Bei walked to the entrance, almost shouting because she wasn’t sure Chen Lan could hear her.
Luo Bei heard Chen Lan curse on the other end, saying Fang Jingzhou wasn’t easy to take care of and that he caused her a lot of trouble.
“It’s not safe for a child to be home alone at night. You should come back.”
When Luo Bei finished talking, she heard a male voice over the phone, “Come to my place tonight, my wife is away on a business trip…”
Replying to him was Chen Lan’s voice, “Okay!”
Luo Bei was speechless.
After a while, Chen Lan spoke again. This time, it was towards her, “Luo Bei, don’t you have a spare key? Just open the door for him.”
“If you don’t come back tonight, then Jingzhou would be home alone…” It’s not safe.
It wasn’t that the security here was poor, but surely normal people wouldn’t leave a toddler home alone?
Chen Lan said impatiently, “If you don’t mind, just have him stay with you for the night. Don’t call me anymore. I have other things to do.”
She hung up the phone. Hearing the busy tone from the other end, Luo Bei was once again left with no words.
