Maria Bianchi
I stared at the ceiling as Charles started to shuffle around next to me.
"Morning." He whispered.
I didn't say anything. I felt like I had lost a part of me, even if i had no idea I was actually pregnant.
How did I even lose my own baby?
"Maria." He said as i turned my head to face him.
I immediately felt tears sting my eyes. I tried to blink them away but failed.
"Oh mari." Charles voice cracked pulling me into his warm body.
I silently cried into Charles as he rubbed my back.
"I'm so sorry- I lost our baby. Why did I do that?" I mentally slapped myself as Charles shushed me.
"It's not your fault, baby. It's not your fault." Charles whispered.
I pulled my head out of his chest seeing tears run down his face.
I shook my head as I felt a wave of guilt wash over me.
What have i done?
"I'm gonna go shower." I pulled away from Charles and climb out of bed shuffling over to the bathroom.
I turned on the water and suddenly felt tired.
I sat down in the shower alone with my thoughts.
How did that even happen? I didn't intend to harm my baby- hell I didn't even know I had a baby. I wonder what charles' reaction would've been if I had found out normally. Would he had been happy? Sad? Scared? Excited?
I ran my hands through my wet hair and stood up reaching for a towel.
After I had dried off my body I stumbled back into the bedroom throwing on some shorts and one of Charles' hoodies.
Charles wasn't in bed so I assumed he was in the kitchen eating.
I walked out of the bedroom and towards the kitchen to see Pascale leaning on the kitchen island.
"Pascale? que faites-vous ici? [what are you doing here?]" I asked confused.
"Ah maria! I was hoping to see you here. I just thought I'd pop round and see Charles, he told me he came back yesterday." Pascale grinned as i nodded.
"So where is Charles?" I asked his mother.
"I thought you would know that my dear." She looked back at me confused.
Before I could reply the door opened making me and Pascale turn our heads.
Charles walked in with a bag of food and drinks in his hands.
"Maman? What are you doing here?" Charles dropped the food down and walked over to us.
"I just wanted to come and see how you were doing." Pascale hugged her son as Charles stared at me over her shoulder.
"Where were you?" Pascale asked Charles.
"Oh- uhm I went to pick up some breakfast for me and Maria." Charles walked back over to the bag and placed it on the island.
"No way! Lola's?" I gasped as Charles smirked. "You remembered! You remembered it was my favourite."
"How could I forget?"
I hugged Charles and opened the bag immediately feeling satisfied by the smell.
"Almond croissants? Oh Charles you are amazing." I say with my mouth full of croissants.
