Chapter 7: Sorry Steve. Love, Tyler.

As Steve hides his cuts with cheap Make-up, which he took from his mother he continues to spend his last few days with Ashanti before kissing her goodbye and going to Compton with his family. They arrive after a somewhat long flight and now are on their way to see their cousin Reggie one last time before he goes. 

*Steve's POV*

*Aunt Pearl's house*

*2:13 PM*

*June 21st*

The second my mom parks the car I jump out and run into my aunt's backyard and I automatically greet all of my family members again! We call and text each other here and there but this is definitely way better than that. I give everyone a hug and ask them about how life is treating them before finding my aunt inside the house. 

"Auntie!"

"Hi Nephew!"

Me and her were very close before I had to move away. If I ever needed to get something off my chest, I always go to her first. My mom tries to understand me, but pearl just does a better job at learning certain things about me.

"How is it down in Virginia?"

"It's getting better I'm not sure where I am going to go next."

"You're not going to college?"

"I don't think so."

"I would love for you to go but if you don't want too then that's okay."

"I'm just not sure what I would do if I was in college."

"A doctor or even an engineer?"

"Nope I just can't get into it."

"Do you have a job now?"

"Yeah I work at this pizza shop."

"How much do you make nephew?"

"It's not that much but it works!"

"Are you looking for another high paying job?"

"Yeah I only have it because my girlfriend's brother owns the place."

"I forgot you were in a relationship."

"I think she might be the one."

"You guys only been together for a few months!"

"How did you know that?"

"I am still your mother's sister."

"Well yes but I think this might last."

"Whatever makes you happy."

I crack a smile 

"Well do you guys need help cooking anything?"

"I would usually ask for your help but I have something for you."

She never has any surprises for me unless it's my 10th birthday. I slightly toss my head back and raise my eyebrow.

"Just go next door and knock."

"Go to your neighbor's house and knock?"

"Yes."

"Are you setting me up?"

"Nope not at all just go."

"Alright then I'll be next door."

"When you're done, I'll be in the kitchen."

I notify my mom before exiting and going next door. I take a deep breath and knock on the door before ringing the doorbell.
