My alarm rang, and I thought, "Stupid school. Why can't it be online? It's so much better than having to wake up earlier." I reached over to turn off the alarm, but suddenly my phone started ringing. I picked it up from the nightstand, answering the incoming call. "Hello?" I said, my voice high-pitched.

"Hello, princess," Jake's voice came through.

I gasped. "How did you get my number?" I questioned, confused.

"From my mom," he stated the obvious. "Get ready. I'm picking you up."

Before I could reply, he hung up, leaving me with my mouth open. Did Jake just ask me out? I snorted. That must be a dream. I walked to the bathroom and went through my usual routine. I kind of miss my friends back home. My ex-boyfriend keeps calling; why can't he leave me alone? I blocked him. I want nothing to do with him. I walked to my walk-in closet and picked out an outfit - nothing fancy, just a red dress with some boots. I put my hair in a bun. Outside looked like it was going to rain. It had been raining all week. Later, I met Chole and walked downstairs to grab an apple. As I opened the door, Jake stood there on his motorcycle. It wasn't a dream, I muttered, jumping in.

"Princess," he smirked.

"Ugh, never," I yelled, right when I pulled out my phone. Jake snatched my phone. "Give me back my phone!" I demanded, reaching for it. He's 4'1, and I'm 6'2, but I managed to retrieve it. "Not until you agree to go out with me," he smiled with the window open, showing all his perfect teeth. There's no way I'm skipping school and lying to mom just so I can finish watching "Teen Spy." Either that, or no phone.

"Fine," I said, not giving it up until he agreed.

Ugh, Jake will never leave me alone, especially not after what I did to him the other day. I rolled my eyes. I got in and held on tight. This better be worth it.

"We're at the restaurant already. Can you make up your mind?" Jake said for the umpteenth time as we arrived. The waitress, Mira, came over. I read her name tag.

"Mira, smile," I thought.

I heard some giggles and turned around to see my ex-boyfriend Josh standing just two inches away. "Short," I muttered thankfully under my breath. I brought my nerdy glasses with me, hoping he wouldn't recognize me.

I put on my nerdy glasses, hoping he doesn't recognize me. "What are you doing here anyway?" I wondered. Josh was really rich, always on some business trip, and his father was never home.

"Faith," Jake's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "What?" I hissed.

"Someone has a bad attitude," he said.

I rolled my eyes. "After this date, you better leave me alone."

"I'll leave you alone until you admit I'm hot, sexy, and attractive," he grinned.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. Josh was having a conversation with some important men. "Here you go," Mira said, bringing our plates. "Thanks," I smiled and started eating.

"So, what brought you here?" Jake asked, taking a sip of his drink.

"Job," I mumbled. I didn't really want him to know the whole story.

"Anyway, what's up with you making my life hell?" I wiped my mouth.

He laughed. Even his laughter sounded sexy. Every time a new student steps into West High, my job is to make sure—

"He can't be serious," I thought.

"Anyway," he continued.

Jake paid for the dinner, and we exited the building. Mom is going to be so mad for skipping school. I kind of liked this Jake.

We stepped out into the cool evening air, and I couldn't help but feel a strange mixture of excitement and trepidation. Spending time with Jake had been unexpectedly... fun. But it also felt like I was straying from my usual routine, and that made me slightly uneasy.

As we walked back to his motorcycle, I couldn't ignore the feeling that I was venturing into uncharted territory. The rain had let up, leaving a damp sheen on the streets. I sighed, wondering how I was going to explain this to Mom.

"So, did I live up to your expectations?" Jake asked with a sly grin, breaking the silence.

I rolled my eyes, a reluctant smile tugging at my lips. "Don't get too ahead of yourself, hotshot."

He laughed, the sound unexpectedly contagious. "I'll take that as a yes."

We reached his motorcycle, and he handed me a helmet. "Ready for the ride back?"

I hesitated for a moment, then shrugged. "Might as well. It's not every day I get to play hooky and go on a motorcycle ride."

Jake's grin widened as I put on the helmet. Once I was secure, he revved up the engine, and we zoomed off into the night. The wind whipped through my hair, and the sensation was oddly freeing. I couldn't help but hold onto Jake a little tighter as we maneuvered through the streets.

When we finally pulled up to my house, I reluctantly removed the helmet. My heart raced from the exhilaration of the ride, but also from the realization that I was going to have to face Mom's wrath.

"Thanks for the ride," I said, meeting Jake's gaze.

He shrugged nonchalantly. "Anytime, princess."

I rolled my eyes, but this time, it was accompanied by a small chuckle. "See you around, Jake."

He nodded, his expression unexpectedly sincere. "Yeah, see you around, Faith."

As I watched him ride off into the night, I couldn't deny the mix of emotions swirling inside me. Despite his annoyingly confident attitude, there was something intriguing about Jake. Maybe he wasn't just the troublemaker I thought he was. And perhaps, in some strange way, he was helping me break free from the monotony that had taken over my life.

As I entered the house, I braced myself for Mom's inevitable questioning. I had a feeling that navigating this new chapter of my life was going to be even more complicated than I had ever imagined.

Guys, I almost have writer's block. Comment if you're a Jake fan I'll update tomorrow, I promise. Next chapter, I'll make it longer. 😊
