It is 1905 and Giovanna Wrayburn moves to London from York. Giovanna's mother moved the two Wrayburn women to London for one simple reason — to find Giovanna a husband, despite Giovanna not knowing.
After figuring out her mothers plans to marry her off, Giovanna stops at nothing to sabotage any suitor her mother sends her way. She becomes incredibly blunt, uninterested and sometimes quite rude. Giovanna did not want to marry.
A few weeks after Giovanna arrives in London, Matthew Fairchild returns from his travels. He meets Giovanna whilst on a visit to to parabatai. Sparks ensue.
Giovanna tries her best to ignore her growing feelings for Matthew Fairchild but as she gets to know him, the harder she falls. But she refuses to give into that temptation.
