Chapter 16

Maya's POV

"Mommy"

I feel Jonah tapping my leg and I stop whipping the cream and look down at the little Lego structure he built.

"That's amazing bud" I praise him on his work and continue with my own task. Stephanie wants a vanilla cake with strawberry cheesecake flavored icing. The cake is already out of the oven, busy cooling down, and decorating the cake won't take so long. 

Alex is on the couch, relaxing like we promised she could while Stephanie and I are busy getting everything ready for tomorrow.

"We can go sometime in the week babe? Or do you want to go over the weekend?"

I look up at Alex where Riley sits in her lap, busy flipping through a magazine that has been entertaining her for the last half an hour.

After my conversation with Jamie, I've talked to Alex and Stephanie about it. They both agreed that we should do more date nights.

I'll be honest, I was actually really concerned about us falling into the same cycle Jamie did. I really didn't want our relationship to come to that.

But after I told my wives about it, they assured me it won't happen and I believe them. We just really have to make our relationship a priority as well.

"We can do it before your day off and then maybe Steph can arrange her schedule as well." I suggest. "But if it can't work, then we can maybe do it over the weekend."

"I think I have Thursday off" she says but her expression shows how she thinks about it first. "But we don't have go according to my schedule. We can go any night of the week."

Stephanie comes walking into the kitchen and goes straight to the garage with some plastic bags in her hand.

Jonah immediately runs after her and it wasn't long till Riley also jumped up from Alex's lap, on her way to see what Stephanie's doing.

It wasn't long till we hear laughter and tiny footsteps come running our way. Stephanie chases after them and they come to hide behind my legs.

Stephanie comes creeping around the counter and their little squeals makes us all laugh in amusement.

They cling onto my legs and I immediately stop what I'm doing because as Stephanie gets closer they try their very best to hide from her.

"Oh, you are pulling down my pants." I laugh and try keep it up but Stephanie steps closer to catch them and in between the tickling and laughter she pulls them away from my legs.

I quickly fix my pants and watch them on the floor beside me.

"Steph honey" Alex calls on her and she stands up with Jonah and Riley hanging in her arms. "Do you have a busy week ahead? Can we go out to dinner this week? Or do you prefer the weekend?"

"I don't mind" she says and glances at the both of us. "I'll just move my things around if something comes up."

"Okay, then I think we should do it Wednesday. I'll make us some reservations."

"I'll put it in Abby's schedule for the week." Stephanie says and walks over to the couch with the twins. "But first I need to finish up outside."

"Do you need some help?" Alex asks her but my concentration is back on the cake in front of me.

"No, I'm okay. You can just sit here, my queen."

I slightly laugh and without even seeing it, I know Alex attempted a swing or a kick towards Stephanie because she almost runs out the kitchen.
