The next day, the funeral took place. My legs nearly gave out as I saw Alyss being lowered into the coffin. Carmen took me to one of the chairs, and I thanked her.
"Are you okay, Y/n?" She asked.
"I-" I stopped myself. I could hardly get a single word out. Carmen held me in her arms
"Everything will be alright, Y/n." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2 hours later ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carmen came with me to my new apartment. Carmen gave me a bit of tea, which calmed me a bit.
"Get some rest." Said Carmen." I have to ask you something important in the morning."
I looked at her. "What is it?" I asked.
"In the morning." She said.

I yawned, exhausted. For a second, I forgot why I was so sad. Then I remembered. She's dead. Alyss is dead.
It just wasn't fair. I lost Carmen, then I found Alyss, and then I found Carmen, then I lost Alyss! The universe is NOT on my side.
I went to my small kitchen, and made breakfast. Just before I finished, I got texts from Carmen.
"Are you awake?"
"Are you okay?"
"What are you doing"?
I replied;
I'm a little better now, thanks. I'm eating breakfast. I'll be done soon." "Can I come over?"
I smiled, but then I shook my head. How can I be happy at a time like this? I told her "sure" and in 10 minutes, she and I were sitting in my apartment, deep in conversation.
"So do you remember what I do?" She asked.
I nodded. "You steal from Vile, instead of for them, correct?" I said.
"Correct." She said. "So um.. You don't have a job anymore right?"
"Right. The coffee shop went out of business." I tell her.
"Well, I was thinking.. Maybe you'd wanna join my crew?"
"Oh, Carmen I- I'd love to! You definitely need to train me though. I haven't practiced the skills I learned from V.I.L.E. in a long time."
"Of course I'll train you." She smiled. "When do you wanna start?"
