It was the next night, and (Y/N) was getting ready to head to the bar for work. She fluffed up her hair and fixed her makeup in the bathroom mirror. Her stomach was in knots, knowing she would have to face Dennis and Charlie again. She takes a deep breath and exits the bathroom.
Dee is waiting by the door, jacket in hand. She gives (Y/N) a small smile.
"You ready for this?" She asks. (Y/N) sighs.
"Not really. But let's go."
—————
Dennis, Mac, and Charlie are seated at the bar when the two women enter. The door opening catches the men's attention. Dennis scoffs, then silently gets up and walks to the back office, slamming the door. (Y/N) flinches at the sound."Did I miss something here?" Charlie asks.
"(Y/N) and Dennis kissed, then she said it didn't mean anything but it meant something to him." Mac fills him in.
"Wait, they kissed? I thought she was in love with me!" Charlie says.
"I am! But Dennis...never mind. It doesn't matter." (Y/N) says, taking off her coat and getting ready to open for the night.
Dee sits down in Dennis' vacant seat.
"How are you feeling about all this, as Dennis' best friend?" Dee asks Mac.
"Well, I'm angry at her for leading Dennis on and hurting him, but I also know that she is confused, and honestly, Dennis is kinda getting what he deserves." Mac replies, chugging the rest of his beer. The two turn to Charlie.
"How are you feeling about this, Charlie?" Dee asks. Charlie shrugs.
"I don't know. Thinking of her kissing Dennis gives me a weird feeling in my chest, but when I think about letting go of the waitress and pursuing (Y/N), I also get a weird feeling in my chest." He replies, shaking his head.
Dee and Mac exchange a look. This is starting to get complicated.
————-
To say that things were awkward in the bar would be an understatement.Dennis wouldn't even look at (Y/N), who in turn refused to look at him.
Charlie was refusing to go anywhere near (Y/N), despite her efforts to get him to talk to her.
Mac was also giving her the cold shoulder for doing what she did to his best friend.
All Dee could do was sit back and watch.
As the night progressed, tensions continued to rise within the bar. (Y/N) couldn't escape the overwhelming weight of guilt and regret, her heart torn between her feelings for Charlie and the confusion she had caused with Dennis. The atmosphere was thick with silence, broken only by the occasional clinking of glasses and hushed whispers from other patrons.
—————
Hours later, once the bar was closed, Dee say everyone down together."Okay. We need to sort this out. Now, (Y/N), apologize to Dennis."
Dennis looks at (Y/N) expectantly. She signs.
"Den, I'm sorry. It did mean something to me. I was just scared and confused because I still have feelings for Charlie, even though I know it'll never happen between me and him. Cause he has that stupid waitress..." She adds the last part quietly.
"Good. Now Charlie, you need to be one-hundred percent honest with (Y/N)...do you have any feelings for her outside of friendship?" Dee asks. Charlie shrugs.
"I don't know. I didn't think I did, but then Mac said that she kissed Dennis and it gave me a weird feeling in my stomach. But when I think about letting go of the waitress, I also get a weird feeling in my stomach. So I have no idea what my feelings are." He replies.
"Well that helps a lot, Charlie." (Y/N) snaps sarcastically. The group is stunned for a moment. They've never seen (Y/N) snap at anyone like that before. Eventually, (Y/N) stands, glaring daggers at poor Charlie.
"Charlie, I'm sick of this. You can go be with your stupid waitress since you can't make a goddamn decision to save your life. I'm done." She snaps, grabbing her coat and leaving the bar, slamming the door closed behind her. The gang looks at each other in shock. They didn't know that sweet, bubbly (Y/N) had so much anger inside her.
"Whoa, Charlie. Are you okay?" Mac asks.
"I mean, no. But she's right. I can't make a decision. So I guess I'll just keep things the way that they are. I'll keep going after the waitress." He concludes. Dee rolls her eyes.
"Whatever, Charlie. But you missed out on a really sweet girl." She tells him, also grabbing her coat and leaving the bar.
