Gabriella looked down and tried to move against the ropes, trying to free herself but it was no use. The ropes tied around her wrists were too tight.
"Hey baby," I uttered. She snapped her head up to look at me in disbelief as if she couldn't believe I was there. I greeted her with a half-smile. "Heard you needed a bodyguard."
She opened and closed her mouth, clearly unsure of what to say. "What...how...?"
"I'll answer later but we got to get you of here." I reached out to touch the side of her face that had a cut and I felt a new rage run through me. "Which of them did it?"
She hesitated, probably unsure of what I would do with the answer. "Davis, the younger guy."
"Should've hit that bastard harder," I mumbled before looking back at her. "Did they do anything else to you?"
"They hit me in the back of my head with something. That's how they got me here."
Trying to resist the urge to go back and put a bullet in that asshole that I knocked out, I pulled out a knife to cut through the ropes. Once she was free, I slowly lifted me up. "We'll get your head checked out later but right now I need you to stand for me, Gabriella. Can you do that?"
Giving it everything she had, she forced herself to stand steady on her feet. "Yeah, I can stand."
"Well look what we have here," Ronald yelled from the door. "I knew there had to be a reason a random car pulled up outside. You must be the bodyguard but haven't seen you around lately. You gave up on your job, kid?"
Gabriella quickly stepped behind me as I stared Ronald down. "Fuck you. Gabriella didn't do anything to you, just let her go. Your issues are with her father not her."
The older man shrugged. "That may be but the easiest way to get to him is his little girl. I don't suppose you have my money. Because if not, then the princess isn't going anywhere. Davis!"
Before I could say anything, Davis ran up behind us and grabbed Gabriella to move her away from my side. Fuck, I didn't knock him out long enough. I pulled out my gun and pointed it directly at the bastard.
"Let her go before I put a bullet in your ass," I demanded.
Davis laughed. "You wouldn't do that. Not when you could risk hitting her which I know you wouldn't want."
I glanced at Gabriella who looked terrified. I hated that she was in this situation and seeing how afraid she was made me want to light up everyone in here. I could take the shot right now, but could I risk hitting her in the crossfire?
Thinking quickly, I looked above them at one of the light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. It was risky but a better risk than Gabriella getting shot. Before anyone could question me, I reached up and shot at the fixture, causing it to fall.
Immediately, Davis let go of Gabriella and moved out of the way, freeing her to run to me. After giving her a quick lookover checking for any new injuries, I pushed her towards the exit. "Go find Mike outside."
She frowned. "What about you?"
"I'll be fine, go!"
Deciding not to question me further, Gabriella ran off. Before I could take a step to join her, I heard footsteps running up behind me before being tackled to the ground and finding Davis standing over me.
"I can see why you want to save her," he sneered. "She's a cute piece of ass."
This guy must have a death wish.
Not giving him a response, I kicked him in the groin before sending another swift punch to the face, bringing him to his knees. Enraged by what he was seeing, Ronald pulled out a gun and fired a shot just above my head.
"You're a dead man," I heard from behind me. I turned around to see Davis trying to stand to his feet until a gunshot was fired, and he fell to the ground again with blood seeping out of his thigh.
When I looked up at his assailant, I breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks for joining us, Mike."
He shrugged. "Hey, you seemed like you were doing a pretty good job on your own."
"Where's Gabriella?"
Before he could answer, we heard a gun being loaded and turned to see Ronald aiming outside. "Well if I'm not getting any money, guess there's no need for daddy's little rich girl to stick around."
Realizing Gabriella must've been standing where he was aiming, I grabbed Mike's gun and fired at Ronald's hand, causing him to drop his weapon. "Not today, asshole."
With him distracted by his injury, Mike and I took the opportunity to run out of the warehouse to get back to the car. Gabriella was standing right by the passenger door waiting for us which was a beautiful sight to see. Before I could reach her, I heard a shot fired and felt a burning sensation in my left shoulder.
"Aiden!" I heard Gabriella yell as I stopped and dropped on the ground in front of her. We turned around and saw Ronald standing there with a triumphant smile on his face. Mike tried to fire again but cursed when he realized he was out of ammo.
Ronald lowered his gun and laughed at the sight of me hurt. "See that's what happens when you try to play with the big boys. Guess being a bodyguard isn't the right job for you."
There was no way I was about to let this dick have the last laugh. He may think he's won but he underestimated my aiming skills. Straining myself, I reached for my gun and flashed Gabriella a smirk before turning my attention back to Ronald. "Like I said, fuck you."
Before he could react, I grabbed my gun and sat up to fire a shot that went directly into Ronald's chest, causing him to fall to the ground. With that taking the last bit of energy I had, I laid back down on the ground as I heard Gabriella run to me.
"Hey you're okay," she told me, pressing her hand on the wound like Mike and I taught her a while back. "Stay with me."
"I always imagined what being shot would be like," I hissed against the pain. "Turns out it hurts like a bitch."
"You killed my dad!" we heard before looking up and seeing Davis trying to limp to us.
He picked up Ronald's gun but before he could go any further, two gunshots fired striking him in the chest and stomach, causing him to fall in front of us. I looked up and saw Mike drop my gun.
"This is what happens when you try to let them live," he mumbled before turning to us to look at my injury. "How are you doing?"
"Well, I mean other than being shot I'd say I'm having a pretty productive day," I rolled his eyes.
Mike laughed. "Yeah, you're definitely good. Hold on, let me get my medical kit out of my car."
"You carry a medical kit?" I raised an eyebrow. This guy never failed to surprise me.
"Yeah, you never know when you'll get into situations like this," he shrugged. "Plus, you were so determined to get here that I figured it wouldn't be too bad to grab it just in case."
As he walked to the trunk, Gabriella looked down at me. "You came for me."
"Of course I did. That's my job," I smiled, enjoying the fact that I was finally seeing her beautiful face again.
"As my bodyguard or as my boyfriend?" she smirked.
I raised my head slightly. "Whichever one gets your lips on mine faster."
She smiled before leaning down to press her lips against mine. Immediately, it was like everything was right in the world again and I finally had the other half of my heart back. As Mike came back and patched me up, I never let go of her hand, afraid she would disappear if I let go. I may have saved her, but we still had her parents to deal with. It was safe to say that I had already decided I wasn't going anywhere and there was no way I would let them make me leave her life again without a fight.
