*First Person, Shelby's POV*
"I hate to disturb this reunion but how the hell are we gonna get out of here?" Glen asked causing everyone to look at each other.
"You said they are attracted by sound right?" I questioned Glen taking a step back from Rick to peer over the side at the streets below that were crowded with walkers, attempting to find some form of living flesh to sink their teeth into.
"Yeah their like dogs, they here sound they come...? Glen replied trying to catch the gist of what I was trying to say.
"What else...?" I continued mentally coming up with a genius plan.
"Besides from the hear you, smell you, they see you then they catch you and eat you." Morales answered as calmly as possible.
"They can tell us by smell." Rick asked not believing what he was hearing.
"Well yeah, they smell dead we don't" Andrea said sarcastically making me turn around and smile at her humorous sentence.
"Erm...I have an idea but your not gonna like it..." I said looking at them all individually before stalking off to the warhouse motioning for them to follow me, which they did as I heard multiple heavy footsteps behind me.
"So what's the plan Ellie" Rick asked refering to his high school nickname for me, he always used to say Shelby was too masculine for my appearance but that all changed since I left for the army.
"We could use one of the bodies that we attacked earlier to disguise our smell, we could use some of them lab coats in reception so the blood and guts doesnt get in our eyes or on our skin..." I replied befoer getting interupted by Glen.
"Who is going to go out there dressed from head to toe like walker bait?" Glen asked in disbelief of my plan.
"I will it's only right saying as though I got all of you into this mess by popping of rounds in the streets anyways." Rick suggested .
"Well if you're going so am I!" I exclamed.
"NO!" Glen shouted. "I said going to get Rick was unfair of you to go because you saved us and now your going to go out and leave us like that...NO over my dead body!" Glen screeched making me look at him wide eyed. Why did he care so much.
"Why do ya'll care anyways an dont ya dare say it's because I saved you because that ain't true!" I shouted desperate to get an answer from him.
"When you were in the army did you know a David Rhee?" he asked tears welling up in his eyes.
"Yeah, when I joined he was in his late 40's he was in my battalion, why'd you ask?" I stated unsure on where this conversation was going.
"David was my father he died shortly after returning from the army...I was 12 when he died. But when he returned he had so many stories of what he called 'brave comrades' one of them was called Shelby Hunter...he said you saved his life and without you he would've died in that desert..." Glen continued, making me realize it was his dad I carried back to base camp when I found him he had been shot in the thigh which is why he couldn't walk himself. I threw my arms around Glen enclosing him in a tight hug.
"Im so sorry I couldn't help him ." I mumbled in Glen's dark brown hair. I released Glen to see him looking at me his eyes glistening from the tears building up. He quickly wiped his eyes on the shoulder of his sleeveless shirt.
"You did more than anyone else so I'm grateful I got to say goodbye to him at home before he died...if you didn't help him he would've died on the ground over there but you helped him come back to his family and I can never repay you for that..." He finished his speech which made me smile that he was grateful for me helping...but honestly ufhalf the men in the army actually had a pair of balls they would've helped David when bullets where pouring from the sky, not hiding in base camp to avoid getting shot.
