It's a cold November evening, and Sadie Lupin is currently drunk.
She knows that if Remus could see her by now he would probably rip her head off of her body, but hey, Slytherin won this week's game, the team decided to throw a party and who was she to stop them?
The fact that they had brought way too many bottles of fire whiskey – courtesy of Barty Crouch Jr – had not seemed like a problem, not even when Sadie's cheeks are on fire and she's stumbling around trying to get to the other side of the room, where the beautiful Davey Gudgeon is leaning against the wall bopping his head to the music coming out of the record player.
It's no secret that Slytherin's parties are the parties, so it's not a surprise that students from other Houses have found their way there. Other Houses except Gryffindor, of course. This is just as fortunate for Sadie as it is unfortunate for Dorcas, who had been hoping all night to meet Marlene there.
"Where are you going, now?" Michelle groans, trying to pull Sadie back from her brown sweater.
"I'm gonna ask Davey out." Sadie replies, barely dragging out her words, but still completely confident in herself as she shakes her fifth – maybe sixth? who's counting! – cup around.
"You'll embarrass yourself this way!" Michelle sighs in exhaustion, "Why don't you try asking him tomorrow, yeah? I'm sure he'll say yes when he sees you sober!"
Sadie turns around, freeing herself from Michelle fingers. "Nope." She says, before turning around suddenly to go on her way.
What she hasn't seen, though, is that Regulus Black was walking right behind her in that exact moment – and that is how all of her cup's content has ended up on Black's shirt.
You can hear a pin drop. Everyone turns to see how the bossy, cocky guy is going to tear to shreds the still new girl.
Except that Sadie bursts into laughter right in his face. "Sorry Black, I didn't mean to–"
"Shut up." He replies harshly. "You made this mess, you're gonna clean it."
The girl can't even begin asking him what he meant by that, that Regulus Black has unbuttoned his shirt and thrown it in her arms.
Sadie has to admit it. He may be the most obnoxious, arrogant, annoying person in this castle – but Merlin if he looks good. Maybe that's why she's keeping her lips lightly parted and her eyes fixated on his slight abs.
"Hello?" He waved in her face. "Anyone home? I'll wait for it cleaned and sparkly in two days."
His steps away echoed in the room, that stayed silent only a second before getting back to music and chants.
"What the hell was that?" Dorcas appears from the crowd, "Why didn't you talk back?"
"Who does he think he is to humiliate you in this way?" Michelle adds.
Sadie just shrugs. "Nah, I'll clean it, it's no big deal."
She quickly puts it in her bag, before turning around to complete her mission from before – even though the interaction sobered her a bit, she still has a lot of alcohol in her system.
"Oi!" She yells out as she reaches Davey.
"Hi?" He replies shyly. He didn't have as many drinks as the girl now standing in front of him.
"You're cute, you know that?" She giggles.
"Thanks, you too." He smiles, cheeks becoming reddish. "You're Lupin's sister, aren't you?"
"Yup." She emphasizes the final 'p'. "Wanna have a drink?"
"I think you've already drank way too many." Davey sheepishly replies. "You wanna sit down? Maybe talking will help you sober up."
