For the next few weeks, Sadie feels something she never felt: how it is to be someone's girlfriend.
Well, she isn't exactly Davey's girlfriend. She doesn't know what she is, actually. They didn't have the talk yet, but she is sure it's any minute now.
For the next weeks, Remus feels something he feels really, really often: how it is to be a protective older brother.
He just doesn't see what she sees in him. Is he cute? Yeah, maybe, looked from a certain angle. She could do definitely better, though. She deserves only the best.
"I just don't see what you see in him!" He exclaims, between a bite and another of his usual morning toast.
Everybody around him groans.
"Oh for Merlin's sake, not this again!" Sadie whines.
"Seriously mate, we cannot hear it one more time." James sighs, "You're driving us insane!"
"But am I wrong though?" He inquires, "He's just some normal bloke."
"Would you prefer he was some kind of psychopath?" She cries out in exhaustion.
"No, but if he really wants to even come near you, he should at least have the decency to have won a Nobel Prize or something!"
"So you want me to stay single forever, then!" Sadie huffs out.
"What's a Nobel Prize?" Sirius asks whispering to Dorcas – "No idea." She replies.
"Well, you're too young to date anyway." Remus crosses his arms, "So this topic really shouldn't concern you."
"Oh my God, you started dating even before my age!" She blurts out angrily, before realizing what she had said. Oh.
Remus's eyes are wide, looking at her.
"Ay Moony, we didn't know about this!" James says, a surprised tone characterizing his voice. "Who did you–"
"No one." Remus doesn't even lets him finish.
"But she– Ouch!" James starts, only for Lily to hit him in the ribs.
Everyone at the table is now visibly confused at Remus's reaction. What in the world was he not saying?
Sadie takes a glimpse at Sirius. His mouth is slightly parted, and he keeps looking between Sadie and Remus.
Remus had told her in a letter, around April of the previous year.
He and Sirius had been dating–for around six months, at that time. They wanted to keep it a secret from everyone, not knowing whatever their friends' reactions could've been. Then one day, Lily Evans, the brightest witch of her age, had the bright idea to open the door of their dorm, knowing James and Peter were in the Common Room and the other two marauders were 'nowhere to be found'. She found them, though. Kissing and panting on one of the boys' bed.
She had closed the door immediately, hearing from inside the room a mix of "I thought you locked the room!" and "No, I didn't, you did! Right?".
They had asked her to keep it a secret–she did, of course, but she also suggested to tell the others, that they would be a-okay with it! She didn't push it, though, if they needed time, they needed time.
At that point, when someone had finally found out, Remus felt like it should've been no problem to tell his sister. Hence the letter explaining their whole love story, from the butterflies in the stomach Remus felt when Sirius laughed, to a first, awkward, kiss, and to, finally, being caught by Lily.
Sadie, of course, had not mentioned knowing any of it, to anyone–ever. Her lips were sealed. Well, until that moment. She thanks Merlin her stupid brain had at least had the decency to not mention the other guy in the couple.
