The sun shone down on my face, waking me from my deep sleep. Now that I think about it, what kind of vampire sleeps at night and stays awake in the morning?

It really was a thick forest, covered with abundant flora and fauna, and it seemed challenging to navigate. Still, due to my vampire senses, I eventually found a pathway with little effort.

Taking a deep breath, I thought, "Finally, a pathway." I wondered if humans were nearby, but I wasn't sure I wanted to meet any since I hardly knew how people in this world behaved.

I began walking on the rocky road. For now, finding a settlement seemed like the best option, but I should probably be more cautious since I didn't know how they would react.

Two hours passed.

"Ugh...my legs hurt...and I'm thirsty too. Just how long will it take to reach a human settlement?"

The sun and thirst were making me dizzy; I guess it's one of the side effects of a vampire roaming in broad daylight.

Suddenly, while taking a rest under the tree, I heard a crashing sound nearby.

Since I had been hoping to find people, I started walking toward the direction of the crash.

To my surprise, there really were people—four people, to be exact—wearing quite the outfits. Swords, bows, and...a staff? It seemed the wheel of their carriage had somehow gotten damaged.

That Chinese-looking dude seemed pretty well-dressed for a forest like this. With his normal build, he didn't fit in much with this environment... well, I wasn't in a position to say that, I guess.

And that guy seemed quite tall and muscular, really a fighter type, I would say, and those two girls looked very normal too.

Now the question was whether I should approach them or not. I thought I looked pretty human. Is white hair common here?

Hmm... I didn't know for now. Let's just observe for now.

"Ahh...I told you guys we should buy a better carriage," the tall guy said while looking at the carriage's wheel, and they soon started arguing instead of fixing the issue.

"You should be happy we at least got a carriage, and... moreover, it wasn't even your money to begin with. It was Li's."

"Can you guys stop arguing and help pick up our stuff!" said the short girl who had short dark purple hair, a determined expression, and wore a unique frock resembling a battle suit with white on top and black on the skirt.

Her outfit looked somewhat like a battle suit. Perhaps these guys were adventurers.

Instead of approaching them, I observed them from afar since I wasn't sure if they would be friendly towards me or not.

[One hour passed.]

They had finally decided to make camp instead.

"Damn it. I'm really dying from thirst right now, and I still can't decide if I should approach them or not. *Sigh* Maybe I should approach them after all. What can even happen anyway?"

Suddenly, I heard footsteps of many unknown beasts, but they were not coming in this direction.

Right then, a devilish plan came to my mind, and I started running toward the sound.

After some time, I finally saw the pack of wolves, or should I say night wolves that I had read about in the book at the castle. They had horns and were darker than usual wolves.

"How unusual."

I took a stone in my hand and threw it at the head of one of the wolves, and it seemed I managed to provoke them.

"Catch me if you can!" I said excitedly.

The wolves started barking and going crazy, rushing toward me, but it seemed I was faster and started heading toward those four people.

Due to the sound of those wolves, it made those four people alert and take a battle stance, and before the wolves could catch me, I hid behind a tree. But surely those four guys couldn't hide after all.

"Enjoy."
