"Welcome to the Glade, Lori." Alby stated in a moderate volume, for once.
The Glade? Seriously, what is going on ?
She asked herself then decided to ask them the exact same questions.
They didn't even bother to respond. A sigh escaped them both in a tired agreement to keep Glorious in the dark. the small walk that Alby started earlier carried on.
The Glade. She repeated the phrase in her head again and again as they marched forward, trying to tell were the name was extracted from.
She thought of the words blade and gladiator when she tried to break down the word in order to analyze it. Then she recalled the meaning of it, the realization hit her abruptly in the back of her mind... glade. She looked again at her surrounding, the nearly barren mixture of the foreign green and grey. The glade means an open space in a place, like a forest. There were some trees cluttered in a corner, but they didn't surround the place, the only thing that surrounded the place were the walls... And the other walls within, and goodness knows how many other walls extending in there, forming mysterious turns and twists. The glade, the clear land in the middle of a maze .
This isn't reassuring, she reflected, her stomach twisting into a firm knot.
(Not again i want out i need to get out)She flipped the board back so that it's facing her again and took the cap off the marker.
I can't remember anything but my name.
That's what she wrote, diverting herself from the maze. She'll ask when the time is right, otherwise they'll know she's trying to flee. She added three lines under the word "anything", for good measure. Alby read it with narrowed eyes then scratched his cheek, his skin was rough under his bitten nails. Glorious's eyes shifted to her broken nails for a second.
"I know, 'at's the case with e'eryone here" he offered the words in a monotonous fashion , walking forward and shooing several boys lazing around back to their chores, he didn't even spare her a glance, all his original curiosity regarding her faded.
Glorious hardly cared. The place was so green and grey and strange to her that she shuddered under the weight of the unfamiliarity. she tried to only look at her dirty black boots or the two boys, but her curiosity was ablaze. She couldn't peel her eyes off the walls.
(Answer I want answers i just need to know some truth)She trotted a little to catch up with him while Newt remained at the back.
But, why? A step behind, She showed Alby the board. She was still worked up by her need to know, and her need to flee. It was like a war inside her, her legs often twitched in the direction of the walls, calling for a refuge behind the large stones, and her brain was a blizzard of questions and blurred imagery of things her head must've contained some other time. For the first time since she noted her muteness, Glorious considered it a bliss. What if the plots and bizarre ideas in her head found a way out of her mouth, and straight to their ears? Goodness knows what they'll think of her then."it's what the creators want, that's why." Newt uttered from the back.
If you don't start making sense I'll punch you in the face, and Albi will get one in the tits.
She hoped her glare teleported her thoughts to Newt, but he didn't portray any kind of alarm.
He looked conflicted for a second, then he flashed her a toothy readable grin that said: everything is sunshine and rainbows, stop asking these questions, a bad attempt to reassure. What did those creators create?
She wrote, altering her expression into a bitter frown swarming all over her exhausted face. She had a serious case of emotional leakage that showed through her facial expressions, and a severely moody character. She was building up her personality real fast. Newt's grin faded into an awkward cough.
