It had been a good few years living in Bartlett, Illinois. The weather was hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. Bartlett was not some fancy, well-known city despite all its museums and parks. It was a village and a peaceful one at that. Surprisingly, finding a decent house and a well-paying job wasn't hard. She moved from New York, the very city and state. She had no friends or family, so there were no loose ends. It was sad how she died alone in an alleyway with no one in the world to care. Her co-workers didn't even bat an eye when she quit, and her neighbors didn't make a fuss when she moved out of her apartment without a single word.
She was the perfect vessel for a demon, and the monster who possessed her didn't bother staying to pretend to be her. If she wanted to blend in, she needed a fresh start where no one knew her. So she devised a plan. One week later, she was moving to a new state, bags and other belongings already packed and shipped. She got a new job where she, hesitatingly, made new friends. She bought a house where her neighbors would often greet her if they saw her. Her life was perfect as Verity Hynes.
That was until a hunter rolled into town. Black Impala rumbled and roared, letting everyone hear it from blocks away. She had no idea he was a hunter. All she knew was that he was looking at her with a gleam in his eyes, almost calling her over to him. He was the hottest guy she had ever seen. He was the first person to sleep with her and gave her one helluva good first time. It was so good, in fact, that he stayed in town for a few more days. And that would be her undoing. Her perfect life was about to flip upside down. And all because of a little bit of salt.
The day she met him started just as any other day. She woke up at dawn, staying in bed for a couple of minutes to bask in the sunlight that never reached Hell. When she got up, she got some clothes and took a nice warm shower to start the day. She dried her hair with a blow dryer before putting it into a neat bun for work. She likes coffee but loves tea more, so she gets a mug full of water and picks a black tea bag. Two spoonfuls of sugar mixed in gives her a sweet drink to put her in a great mood. When done with her tea, she checks outside for a newspaper. She spends a few minutes skimming over it before noting that nothing interesting has happened and puts it down.
At this point, she needed to head to work, so she quickly grabbed her coat and shoes before heading out the door. She drives off in her white Toyota Camry. It was nothing fancy, but it's nice and gets the job done. She works as a waitress for a small business, not that she minds. She gets good tips, and her boss and co-workers are great to be around. You get many regulars in a place like this, so it's exceptionally noticeable when someone new walks in. And that day, as it so happened, was the day Dean Winchester stopped into town for a bite to eat. He had been on the road for about a day and figured the town looked good, meaning the food would be even better.
He was correct about the food, and the bonus was an attractive waitress at a dinner that served fresh apple pie. If Dean were a man of religion, he'd have been thanking God on his knees that day. Not that he didn't thank him years later until he found out God was a dick, but that was beside the point. Dean made sure to tip her well. Half because he wanted her number and half because she was a great waitress. He struck out of luck, however, or so he thought. All she did was give him a bright and thankful smile before wishing him a good day and returning to her work. As fate would have it, her co-workers encouraged her to go to the bar after work with them. Lo-and-behold, he was sitting at the counter with a beer. He looked up at her and gave another go, and he scored.
She introduced herself after allowing him to buy her a drink, but she didn't make it easy. He seemed to appreciate the challenge well enough, and they spent the whole night teasing and flirting. Finally, she let him take her home, letting her lead him in their respective cars. He was sweet, seemingly knowing she had little to no experience. He undressed her slowly before showing her the stars in her bed. She woke up at dawn feeling very satisfied and a little addicted. He wasn't there when she awoke, but he did show up at the dinner again.
