She slowly came to as the sunrays positioned themselves over her eyes. She squinted and rubbed her eyes but made no move to get up. She merely looked out the window from where she laid, watching and enjoying the peace. "You gonna lay there all day?" she jumped slightly. She looked over and found Dean watching her from the end of the bed, a tad bit amused. He had a few papers in front of him, a smaller pile than last time. She shook herself internally as she realized his words. She peaked at the clock, reading the red numbers 7:56 AM. Huffing silently, she carefully sat up.
She slowly bent forward, stretching her back to find her limit before she felt pain. She hummed quietly when she found it, realizing it might have healed a little in her sleep. She looked back at Dean. He was still watching her. She looked around, frowning at the lack of something. "Did you get yourself breakfast yet?" She knew she sounded stupid, but she just woke up, and her mind was a bit of a mess. He snorted, bewildered. "You just got mauled by a Myling, and your first words waking up after a beating is "Did you get breakfast yet?"" Her cheeks burned," Hey, I just woke up! Besides, I'm not worried about me." He scoffed," Your back was split open. I got there just in time to see you get hurled at a tree hard enough to break someone's back."
She grunted as she stood up, waiting for the dizziness to go down. "I'll be fine. It'll heal." He seemed annoyed at her dismissal, standing himself as he pulled her to sit on the edge of the bed. "Hey!" She barked, but he ignored her as he grabbed the medkit again and gave her a look. She tch'ed at him but let him look at her wound. She leaned forward as he poked and prodded, grumbling quietly but loud enough for him to hear," I'll be fine. It'll probably go away in a few days. There's no need to fuss. I'll just take some pain pills." He huffed as he completed his checkup and gave her another look.
He pulled out two pills from a container and gave them to her," I'm still gonna check it every day." She frowned but took the pills anyway, refusing to answer. Instead, she recounted to him what she saw before it came after her. Explaining that it was now after her due to her stumbling when it jumped on her back. "So, it'll try to kill you for tripping even though it didn't even ask you to carry it? How does that make sense?" She huffed a small laugh," Don't know, but I'm not worried about technicality right now. All I know was that I pissed it off, accident or not, and will probably get thrown around again tonight."
He scowled," So we have a few hours before it starts looking for you?" "Yep, we have until nightfall I'd bet." He sighed, rubbing his face," Great! Well, let's get started then." He handed her a few papers, some of the ones he'd been looking at before she awoke. Getting a better look, she could see the papers were public records of births. She smiled slightly before looking at him," You know these won't help right?" He looked up from his page," What do you mean? Mylings are babies right?" She gave him a thoughtful look," In a way, yes, but they are unwanted babies. How much research did you find on them?"
He shrugged," Not a lot, it was all very vague. I haven't really stopped at the library yet for more." She sighed," Mylings are restless spirits of children who were abandoned by their parents to die. Most Mylings are made by the parents leaving their child to die by exposure in the woods but in some cases, they were killed by their parents. Most abandonments include abuse, neglect, or even on accident when the parent wasn't watching. Basically infanticide."
Dean whistled," Damn, so the babies come back to kill people out of rage?" She shook her head," No, well yes, but in a way no. See, they fall into one of two categories. One category is where they jump on someone's back and demand to be taken to the nearest graveyard. While it sounds easy, the problem is that the longer one is on your back, the heavier they get. Mylings are actually very big, and some tales say that when you get closer to a graveyard, they become more physical and, therefore, will get heavier."
