NP: True by Ryan Cabrera- Episode I
Ava had longed to travel to Japan for years, and her desire was finally fulfilled when she arrived at Narita International Airport in Tokyo on a bright sunny morning. She was excited and nervous simultaneously, navigating her way through the bustling airport. As she stood near the baggage claim area, a sudden realization hit her - she was in a foreign country, alone, and did not know anyone there.
Meanwhile, Russell had been living in Tokyo for several years and working as a barista. He was at the airport to pick up a friend arriving to visit Japan too. As he waited near the arrival gate, he could not help but notice the beautiful lady wearing a maroon dress. Her vibrant blonde hair and the appearance of wonder on her face made her stand out in the crowd.
Ava's heart raced, as she tried to figure out the next steps in this unfamiliar place. She decided to approach someone who seemed approachable and who happened to be Russell. She took a deep breath and walked up to him.
"Excuse me," she said hesitantly, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I just arrived, and I'm a bit lost. Can you help me find my way to the city?" Russell, who had a friendly demeanour, smiled warmly at Ava. "Of course! Welcome to Japan. I'd be happy to help. Do you have a hotel reservation or a specific destination in mind?"
Ava explained that she had a hotel reservation in Tokyo but was not sure how to get there. Russell offered to guide her through the process of buying a train ticket, and navigating the subway system, and even offered some tips on places to visit during her stay. As they chatted, Ava and Russell shared stories about their lives, experiences in Japan, and love for Japanese culture. Ava was immediately struck by Russell's kindness and his ability to put her at ease in a foreign land.
"If you don't mind me asking, what is your name?" Russel asked Ava while looking at her with such intimate attraction. "Well, my name is Ava (it can be read as Eyva) Ysabella Constanza Ramirez, but you can call me Ava. How about you?" Ava asked intently. "I'm Russell, BTW. Nice to meet you"- Russell offered his right hand to Ava to shake his hand. Ava held her right hand, she smiled charmingly and shook his hand. "So, are you here on vacation?"- Russell asked her while sipping a cup of coffee. "Actually yes, I was here to take my time to relax and get my mind off work"- Ava responded with a simple smile on her face. "What was your work then?" Russell asked curiously. "I was a doctor of Psychology and Psychiatry in Manhattan. I work at the hospital we own in Manhattan. How about you? Where are you from, then?"- Ava was a little tensed upon answering his question. "I am from New York, I used to have my apartment in the Bronx, but I sold it and left because I transferred here in Japan" – Russell was dropping hints on Ava. I think she can recognize that body language of his.
By the time they reached the city after a long walk, Ava was on her way to her hotel, she could not help but feel grateful for the chance to encounter Russell. Little was known that this serendipitous meeting would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship and many more adventures in Japan.
Ava had been exploring Tokyo for a few days, immersing herself in the culture, and trying every kind of street food she could find. She had heard about a traditional Japanese restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, and tonight, she decided to give it a try. The warm glow of lanterns and the inviting aroma of the grilled skewers drew her in.
The restaurant was cozy with low wooden tables and paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Ava was led to her seat, and she eagerly scanned the menu, feeling a sense of adventure with every unfamiliar dish. She ordered an assortment of yakitori skewers and a bowl of miso soups.
On the other side of the restaurant, Russell sat at the counter, sipping on a glass of sake. He had finished teaching his English class for the day since he was a part-time English Teacher and decided to treat himself to a dinner at his Favorite local spot. He loved the authentic flavors, and nostalgia for the place brought him.
