NP: Breathless by Shayne Ward- Episode IX

Ava had been planning this moment for weeks, and the excitement was nearly unbearable. She knew Russell would be over the moon when he found out the news, but she wanted to make it special. So, she hatched a playful prank to reveal her pregnancy.

One sunny afternoon, Ava gathered a few items she'd need for her prank: a small empty gift box, a baby onesie with the words "Future Genius" printed on it, and a note that read, "Guess what? Coming soon: Baby Genius!" She set them all aside in her closet, ready for the perfect moment.

Ava knew Russell's routine well. He usually came home from work around 6 p.m. She decided to prepare a delicious dinner, his favorite spaghetti with homemade garlic bread, to help ease him into the surprise.

As she cooked, she couldn't help but grin with anticipation. She knew that tonight would be unforgettable.

As the clock struck 6 PM, the front door opened, and Russell stepped inside. The aroma of the freshly cooked meal greeted him, making his mouth water.

"Hey, Russ! Dinner's almost ready," Ava called from the kitchen, her heart racing.

Russell smiled and made his way to the dining table. The table was set with candles, creating a romantic atmosphere that Ava hoped would soften the blow of her prank.

After they enjoyed their meal and chatted about their day, Ava excused herself to the bedroom, pretending to check on something. She returned with the gift box.

"Russ, I found something I thought you might like," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Russell, intrigued, took the gift box from her. He began to unwrap it, his curiosity growing.

As Russell lifted the lid of the box, he found the baby onesie and the note. His eyes widened in surprise, and he looked up at Ava, who was struggling to contain her laughter.

"Guess what?" she said, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. Russell's heart raced as he read the note and saw the tiny onesie. His initial shock turned into a mixture of joy, disbelief, and pure elation.

"Are you serious? Are we...?" he stammered. Ava nodded, tears of happiness glistening in her eyes. "Yes, Russell, we're going to be parents!" Russell leapt out of his chair and swept Ava into a tight embrace, his excitement bubbling over. He couldn't believe the incredible news and how creatively Ava had shared it with him. They shared a heartfelt moment, basking in the joy of their impending parenthood. Ava's playful prank had brought them even closer, and they knew that this new chapter in their lives would be filled with love, laughter, and countless surprises.

Ava and Russell were overjoyed when they found out they were expecting their first child. The news filled their hearts with excitement and anticipation. However, as the days turned into weeks, Ava's pregnancy brought about some unexpected changes.

One morning, Ava woke up feeling queasy and rushed to the bathroom. Russell, concerned, followed her. He held her hair back as she vomited, her face pale. "Are you okay, love?" he asked, worry etched across his face.

Ava wiped her mouth with a shaky hand and nodded weakly. "I think it's just morning sickness, Russell. They say it's normal." Russell reassured her, "We'll get through this together, Ava. I'm here for you every step of the way."

As the weeks passed, Ava's morning sickness continued, often leaving her feeling drained and exhausted. But amidst the nausea, there was another pregnancy symptom that began to emerge – unusual cravings.

One evening, Ava found herself craving a peculiar combination: pickles and chocolate ice cream. Russell raised an eyebrow when she requested this odd snack, but he obliged and quickly fetched the items from the kitchen. They sat on the couch, Ava devouring her peculiar treat while Russell watched with a smile. "I never would have guessed this combination," Russell chuckled. Ava, her mouth full of pickles and chocolate ice cream, grinned mischievously. "Blame the baby. It's the little one's cravings, not mine."
