Wayne's POV

Moris and I were figuring out how we could still run our operations despite having a major fixing issue courtesy of... her. This would take a big chunk of the company's total profits for this month, so down the drain go my plans to expand the lobby and to renovate some of the rooms. I should be mad, but I'm not. For the first time in a long while I didn't think about the company or my dad. I remember when we were talking with her, she would occasionally smile or how her nose wiggles when she's about to say something embarrassing, or how she stroked her hair with a finger from time to time, or how her curly hair would cover her whole face and she would be irritated to draw it all back to over her shoulders.

Wait.

I shouldn't think about this. Besides I have more urgent, disturbing matters at hand. Like my father's wedding. I still don't understand how he convinced that poor woman into marrying him. It's obvious he is doing it for the money. He doesn't love her.
But what do I know?

Moris had set me up a meeting with a possible investor and I saw it would do me good. I believe I can convince him because this company has alot to offer. Moris had only told me where to meet him, the time and his name. Hillary London. I dont know how he looks like so I'm here sitted in this restaurant waiting for him. It's been 20 minutes. I guess I got here early.

I was seated at a corner that gave me a view of the whole restaurant. The soft background music filled the room, and the silent chattering. The round tables and the floating chandeliers that brought out a warm color, was a nice place.

I was on the verge of taking another sip  when a certain someone cought my eye. The moment she walked In she completely owned the room. It was hard not to notice her with that red dress that fit her perfectly. Her brown hair was let down with curls and it complimented her face.

She was walking towards me and I became alarmed

She was walking towards me and I became alarmed. I gotta say she was stunning and it was kind of hard not to stare. It's rude so I probably should stop but I couldn't. It was not until she reached my table that I stood up and she smiled.

"May I help you ma'am, " I started.

"Quite the contrary, I believe I am here to help you," she held out her hand to greet me, "Hillary London. Nice to finally meet you."

Well ain't this quite the shock. I was so focused on Hillary being a man it didn't occur to me that it might actually be a lady.
I reached for her hand and shook it. I assume she already knows who I am so no need for an introduction.
I held out her seat and she thanked me. She kept a slight smile and I couldn't help but smile back.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting." she briefly says

"It's fine, I was here early anyway."

Then came the silence, she kept her intimidating eyes on me and it was making me uncomfortable. I cleared my throat and called for the waiter. She just widened her smile, like she achieved something.

After we ordered, I figured we would get down to business. I sure hope she would be convinced. I know It took alot of trouble for Moris to arrange this and I don't want to mess it up.

"Your company is pretty popular," she started, "inherited is it?"
"

" Yes, from my mother. " I answered calmly and took a slight sip from my glass.

"I heard what happened to her. I'm sorry."  I slightly nod, talking about her is still difficult for me.
" You are struggling to keep it alive. You know sometimes it's best to know when to let things go, considering everything that has happened to you,why are you still holding on? " she asked and looked directly at me.

"This company is the only thing my  mother lived for. Sure we are at a bad place right now but that doesn't mean I am going to give up on it." My words are firm and clear and I could see she begun being more interested.

"I'm not saying it's reign would end tomorrow, but gradually it will. It's already starting to happen. Look, I know this is more than just business to you. This is something you are very passionate about, and I wanna make it easier for you." She leans forward before saying, " I want to buy your company."

She what?

" Mrs. London I d.. "

" it's Miss London. "she immediately corrected.

" Pardon me, Miss London, I don't think I can take your offer. My company is not for sale. "
.
"I knew you would say that, but the amount I'm willing to offer is enough for you to establish two more companies if you want to. It's a good deal. What do you say?"

Honestly at this point I feel insulted. Does she think I am that desparate?  After everything did she honestly think I would just sell her my company?

" If we're being honest, you are at the verge of bankruptcy with all the loans you have taken, your staff's salaries are delayed and alot of renovations going on... It would be selfish to not accept my offer, think of all the people that will lose their jobs and their families. I'm not asking you to give up on it, I'm just saying you should consider my help. You have a better chance of keeping your company alive if you sell it than if you struggle doing it on your own. I'm sure your mother would want the same. "
She is very tactful in trying to woo me. I could see her point but selling this company? I couldn't even joke about that.

" Mr. Hamelton, what is your take? "

" I want to suggest something else, partnership. " I finally say.

" Partnership? "

" Yes, I don't fully own the company. My father has some shares and if you could convince him to sell them to you we would have a better chance at this. "she chuckles a bit and she leans back on her seat. I hold the majority shares but he still is linked to this company and I would gladly cut off all connections he has with it. He probably doesn't even care.

" Your father has become very... Outgoing. Where would I even find him? "

" His wedding."

"He's getting married? Must be a delightful time for you."

"Why would I be delighted?"

"because, your father has been given a second chance in love. Aren't you happy for him?"

" He is marrying someone he's known for two months. The wedding is probably just a formality before he wastes all her money frowning himself in alcohol and half naked women. What is there to be happy for? "

" Wow Mr. Hamelton, I didn't know you have such feelings towards your father. Anyway, I can't go to his wedding because I wasn't invited. It would be rude to grace him with my presence when I am unwanted there. "

" You weren't, but I was. I'll bring you with me. If that's OK with you. "

" Very well then. " she raises her wine glass," here's to new beginnings",  she says and takes a sip... her smile returned. I couldn't help but remember a certain smile. Her.
