Mintu's screams pierced the silence of his room, and as he awakened, he found himself trembling with disbelief. He gingerly pinched his arm, wincing at the sharp pain it elicited. The vividness of the dream left him questioning its reality, like an unsettling mirage seeping into his consciousness. "It couldn't have been real," he muttered to himself. "Maybe I've been indulging in too many cartoons and anime lately. It's messing with my head."
Just as Mintu's thoughts began to drift, a persistent knocking at his door pulled him back to reality. As he approached the door, a gnawing feeling of forgetfulness gnawed at his mind.
With a deep breath, Mintu opened the door, only to be startled by the presence of two familiar faces - Ananya and Bhakti.
"Oh, uh, good morning, Mrs. Ananya and... Bhakti," Mintu stammered, attempting to regain his composure.
Ananya's voice was tinged with concern as she spoke, "Mintu, we're here for something serious, something concerning your..." She paused, the gravity of her words hanging in the air. "Concerning your health and life."
Confused and somewhat anxious, Mintu implored, "What's going on? Can someone please explain?"
"It's a matter of safety," Bhakti stated matter-of-factly, drawing closer to Mintu and gently touching his chin, leaving him bewildered.
Ananya's voice quivered with emotion as she said, "I can't bear to lose another close friend, Mintu."
Mintu's frustration mounted. "Can someone just tell me what's happening? This is driving me insane, and I have an exam to study for!"
"Bhakti, please show him," Ananya requested.
Bhakti reached into her pocket and produced something-or rather, someone. In her hand was a minuscule boy, barely five centimeters in length.
"What on earth is this?" Mintu exclaimed, bewildered.
"He's an ordinary boy who suffered a fate similar to others, likely accidentally shrunk by Bhakti," Ananya explained.
Mintu was incredulous. "How? How can someone be that size? Are all those missing people actually shrunk?"
"No, Mintu, only a few individuals have been shrunk. Those who have gone missing might have suffered the same fate," Ananya clarified.
Mintu's thoughts spiraled into anxiety. "Could this happen to me? Will I be trapped at that size forever?"
"Maybe," Bhakti responded firmly. "That's why we're here-to inform you. Now, stop questioning and listen to us."
With that, Bhakti carefully held the tiny man, introducing him as Anirudh, a former classmate of Mintu's.
Mintu was now confined to his room, forbidden to leave or allow anyone except Ananya and Bhakti inside. He learned that those with the power to manipulate size, like Bhakti and Ananya, could shrink regular people by focusing their minds on imagining them at a particular size.
As minutes turned into hours, Mintu grew increasingly bored. He resorted to checking the latest news on his smartphone. However, his unease intensified when he received a call from his English teacher, Mrs. Sobia.
Mintu nervously answered the call. Mrs. Sobia expressed her disappointment in his recent test results and requested an immediate meeting in the staff room, leaving Mintu in a state of panic.
With a heavy heart, Mintu complied with her request, unsure of how dire the situation had become. He couldn't shake the thought that his recent score must have been catastrophic.
In the staff room, Mintu's eyes darted nervously to his answer sheet as a splitting headache took hold. His surroundings began to distort and morph, almost as if reality itself was bending to an inexplicable force.
The room, once a mundane space with its chairs, desks, and scattered papers, now appeared colossal and menacing. The dimensions of everything seemed exaggerated, as though he had fallen into a nightmarish Wonderland. The flickering fluorescent lights above cast eerie shadows, magnifying every wrinkle on Mrs. Sobia's face and deepening the contours of her stern expression.
Mrs. Sobia, her spectacles perched on her desk, suddenly turned her attention to Mintu. Her movements appeared exaggerated, deliberate, and almost cinematic. Each step she took echoed ominously, reverberating through the room as her colossal form drew closer.
Panic surged through Mintu as he realized the full extent of his predicament. His legs, now wobbly and unreliable, gave way, and he crumpled to the ground, shrinking to a minuscule 15 centimeters in height.
As Mintu lay on the ground, the room around him seemed to expand further, turning into a vast expanse of looming furniture and towering bookshelves. The distant hum of the air conditioning vent now sounded like a thunderous roar, and even the ticking of a wall clock appeared like the pounding of a drum.
Mrs. Sobia, her face an immense visage that eclipsed his field of vision, continued to approach. Her movements were deliberate, almost ritualistic. Her colossal hand, massive compared to Mintu's reduced size, descended like an avalanche.
Mintu, in a desperate but futile effort, stretched his arms forward, trying to halt the inexorable advance of her gigantic fingers. It was a David and Goliath struggle, but the odds were overwhelmingly against him. Each movement of Mrs. Sobia's hand, each slight adjustment in her posture, was an awe-inspiring spectacle of dominance and might.
Finally, the colossal hand enveloped Mintu. Darkness encroached from all sides as he was lifted off the ground. The sensation of soaring through the air overwhelmed him, and, in his reduced state, he slipped into unconsciousness. Mrs. Sobia's actions were a mesmerizing yet terrifying ballet of power, leaving Mintu's worst fears realized and his world irrevocably altered.
