.. Trauma Overload..

My eyes opened slowly like a payload door to see a blur picture of only bright white light - looked like I was in heaven - I thought
But somehow, I needed a reassurance, I took two deep breaths, waited for a few seconds for my head to clear. Then my pupils stood in place and I got the real picture. The white bright light was actually illuminated rays from the morning sun which converged into the room where I was through the glass at the side the room
A modern substitute for either fiberboards or concrete walls - I remarked
The wall on my left hand side was hermetically sealed with glass and smooth metal exterior and windows that couldn't be opened. I could see other high-rise structures, the clear morning sky and a helicopter hovering above the helipad of a building, and down, I could hear faint traffic sounds
That didn't matter to me anyways!
I looked by my right, just a little higher to see what was beeping monotonously above me. Yep! It was a heart monitor fixed to the fiberboard at the right sides of the room where I saw a glass door sealed with aluminum at the sides hinged to the fiberboard wall.
I looked around more curiously, I saw medical equipments, lots of 'em which made me know where I was exactly - I was lying down in the intensive care unit of an hospital. At least, this was the best place I expected to be in after regaining consciousness. Much better than standing in front of celestials for judgement - I thought
I inhaled hard and a strong smell of antiseptic trickled into my nostrils, I sneezed hard in reflex - just allergic , never visited an hospital since I clocked seventeen
I looked beyond my face and shit! I was all wrapped up in bandages, Cotton wools and adhesive plasters. My right leg and my left upper arm was heavily bandaged while medium and small sized plasters were stripped over Cotton wools on several parts of my body. I knew I was badly injured, I was as sore as hell, I explored my face with my left hand painfully and gosh! My cheek was also swathed with cotton wools and plasters, my head was rolled up in bandage and every dressing had a slight brown stain, it was iodine, no doubt my body hurts so bad
A pole craning up a bag of crimson fluid and another bag containing a rehydration therapy stood over me like a lamp, I had leaked blood at a fair rate overnight and I needed some goo. I was getting gas in slowly and intravenously, it all looked HORRIBLE!!!, I could hear footsteps and chatters of nurses and paramedics outside the ICU. Just praying someone would come in, preferably a nurse and tell me when I was gonna be okay.
I was about drifting off into the experience that took place last night when the glass door opened and a tall middle-aged nurse walked in.
She looked nice from a view
Medium sized tits--
She has a notepad in one hand and a pen in the other
" Hey " She greeted, her red lips opened slowly to show off a set of charming white teeth.
- Stop it , Tom. Chris Hemsworth doesn't take the fall easily - I thought ; Chris Hemsworth was a character defect I had lived with all my life.
" Hi " I responded hoarsely looking away from her direction. Just nervous, I was trying to avoid an eye contact.
She started at me for three minutes, straight! , thought she was having a crush on me or she was just an AI who ran out of battery and was looking like a dead clown. I stole a quick glance and got my eyes lined up for a contact, I looked at the other side instantly, I grew too nervous...
She was just running a cursory test and jotting down her observations
" It's okay, anyways " She broke the silence " You're gonna get better in approximately six weeks, just cuts on your body, a ligament tear in your right leg and a fracture in your left upper arm. You pretty breached the traffic rules..."
" Whaa...!" I interrupted trying to say what the actual thing was, how the accident took place
"

Bye " She harrumphed and walked away " Ohh!... Lest I forget , you got a company " She exited the room.
" Compa..what? You gat to be kiddin' me ?" I yelled
She was a heck afterall
She was good looking, spoke in a rich British accent but crazy!
I sighed huffily and shut my eyes, I wanted to get some sleep - which wasn't necessary
The door creaked open again, this time it, it was the nurse and two men in their early fifties dressed in expensive black silk suits cut in the Italian style. They talked to the nurse for a minute or two and bade her goodbye.
I wanted to yell "who the fuck are they" but she had gone behind the doors before I could even open my mouth.
" Damnit!...It's I and these assholes  now " I muttered
I looked at these guys sternly as they walked towards me - hope they weren't killers. They knew I wasn't dead so they want to strangle me to death, right on this bed. I wanted to scream " I don't know anything, what have I done wrong ?". But I was too dumb to say a thing. That nurse was probably a snitch, she could have received some bucks as a bribe. It's I and my fate now.
I looked around for a surveillance camera which could be taking a clear video of this, In case I died, but before I could start exploring the walls. The adjusting sounds of a chair beside the bed overrode my ruminations. I looked at them slowly, they seated meekly on the chair with smiling faces.
The first guy was tall and he looked rather tough, he had cool wraparound shades and a neat buzz cut. He looked like a great uhmm.... A Hitman. The second guy was not tough looking like the first guy. He had a balding hair and a stubble, a cold face and he had reading glasses on, a big brown envelope was tucked under his arms.
" What's up with you, kid " The first guy greeted, looking at my bandaged leg
" I'm fine " I responded quickly but less hoarsely
" I'm Detective Caine Sedgewick " He introduced and showed his ID off "FBI"
" Detective Jeff Jarrett " The second guy also did the intro' and showed his ID off
Now I wasn't scared anymore but devastated, they had come to install handcuffs in my hands for breaching traffic rules and allegedly running a car over someone.
That nurse was right, I was a scum!
" Guess you are Tom Tolland? Detective Caine asked
" Yeah " I said slowly and they both stared at me for almost a minute. " I swear! It was just self defense. He tried to kill me " I explained hesitatingly, those words weren't coming out fast. I felt rather stupid.
" Pfft!" Detective Caine scoffed in derision " Chillax kid, if you were found guilty, you wouldn't be treated in a federal hospital "
" Whaaa...!!" I spluttered in shock.
" Yeah. If you were found guilty. You would be sent to a prison hospital. Where you would serve your jail term afterwards "
I heaved out a sigh of relief.
" Anyways, thanks ti the surveillance cameras outside the mart. If not, you would spend a hell of time and money trying to prove your innocence "
" But if I had a lawyer?"
" Ptts!! ... It's a game of chance. A Russian roulette "
" Here's the picture of the guy you ran over " Detective Jeff interrupted, he tore the envelope's seal open and flipped through it's contents for half a minute.
Then he brandished a photograph and handed it over to me. I collected it with my weak hands and stared at it curiously.
Goddamnit!! It looks bloody!
The black clothed guy sprawled on the floor in agony, his mask had been pulled off revealing a pale white but bruised face. He was all soaked up with the rain as he lay dead on the wet asphalt. Then I looked at his abdomen, heck!! He was a mess. My coupe had rolled across his abdomen, busting it. I lost interest in the picture instantly and handed it back to Detective Jarrett. I retched once but nothing came up, then I tried to clear the picture off my head.
" You did a good thing kid. No need to feel bad... You ran outta options but, did you know him by any chance? Detective Caine asked
" Nah " I replied blankly, then I explained how the whole thing happened, the assault, how I ran over him, the pursuit and the accident.
" Whoa!! I guess they have an eye on you and your family " Detective Jeff commented and handed me another picture. I collected it and had a look.
It was the accident scene. My coupe was right in mid-air. Yep! Caught by a lamppost and went askew but the building beside made it a equilibrium. Perhaps, the giant spear that crashed into my car was a lamppost. - Thought it was Hancock trying to save me with a giant spear. The Peterbilt 18-wheeler aerocab popped out of the picture a little. It had gone half way the crossroad and caused a hell of traffic jam. A few police cruisers, ambulances and fire trucks surrounded my wreckage in a company of cops, paramedics, rescue teams and news reporters. What a sight! I sighed and shook my head in surprise.
I handed the picture back to Detective Jeff and tried to replay the movie of how everything happened in my head.
" You gat an insurance?" Detective Caine asked
" Yeah "
" Good but ya lucky that truck driver hit the brakes much earlier. He hit his head hard on the wheel after the collision and went unconscious. If he hadn't braked to a halt, he would have  crashed into a few cars, run over some bollards and run into a filling station behind the building where you crashed. And I'm sure you could just think of the fatality rate... 'Cuz the truck was conveying gasoline "
" Gasoline? "
" Yeah! That's explosion..... Squared. It would have claimed a lotta' lives and anihilated some properties "
" Mother luck was on my side I guess.... I was fucking shot with luck "
" Blah blah blah... Actually that ain't what we came for "
" Did you by any chance know Colleno Tolland?" Detective Jeff asked slowly raising an eyebrow.
Those words he just said cranked my brain. I had totally forgotten that part of the story. Was I having dementia or amnesia. Without hesitation, I doled out so many questions.
" Yeah, he's my dad.... Is he fine? How's my sister? Are they fine? Have you found my sister? "
" Chill it kid, your father reported to our department yesternight. He told us your missing sister and assumed you were sorta' missing too 'cuz after he informed you about your sister. He phoned you so many times but you didn't pick up his rings. He suspected something awful might have happened, so not much longer, we found out you were involved in an accident. So we went up to inform him about your current state but on getting there, we found him sprawled over in the porch of his house, in his own pool of blood. He was murdered"  Detective Caine narrated.
I couldn't contain my emotions, I let out tears of distress and agony. Father is gone.....
Detective Jeff showed a picture of him, he laid helplessly on the floor. His cloth soaked up with blood and rain.
" He was sawed off with a shotgun " Detective Jeff said and put the pictures back into the envelope.
" Then we found your sister " Detective Caine said and looked at me, his cynical expression clearly exhibited sympathy, though he looked ruthless.
" Where , she dead??" I asked impatiently.
" Uhmmm... "
" Yeah..? "
" Yes. She got strangled with a wire garrote. She bled to death with lots of cuts on her body. We found her wrapped up in a tarpaulin at the south side of the Coast line "
Those words hurt like hell, I cried like a widow. My heart was sore as hell, tears cascaded down my cheeks freely, everything looked impalpable.
" Don't worry kid, I would help you. I'll try my possible beet to find those pricks and put them before the law. You have my word " Detective Caine said.
" You have my word too" Detective Jeff added trying to maintain a strong face.
" That's not gonna pacify me! They are the only two I got in this world. Mom's passed away since I was seven "
" What..! Uhmm... You gat nobody now " Detective Caine spluttered
" Yeah! I yelled and coughed hard
" Ease it man, ease it " Detective Jeff patted my chest gently as I coughed more harder then I exhaled hard, wheezed and panted.
" I'll help you...get your revenge. Stay strong pal " He said, stood up and exited the room
Yep! They supplied me with the bad news and left me to drown in my own sorrows, alone....
I was numb afterwards, I couldn't think of a damn thing, the only thing that stuck to my brain was the demise of the only two people I got in this world...
The sun retired much earlier, sitting in the midst of thick clouds while revealing it's orange glory. Not much longer, darkness crept in and the moon sat on the throne which the sun abdicated. That night seemed long as I stared at the ceiling while my sister's face danced over mine and my father's hologram sat beside me.
The night was gon' be haunted and conjured, I was already having mares before sleeping...
