Ma Yun came to a sudden halt as if a lightbulb had flickered on in his brain. In his moment of realization, Ai Yu, who was trailing behind him, crashed into his back, bumping her head.
"Ouch!" she exclaimed, rubbing her temple with a groggy expression. "What's wrong? Are we there yet?" she asked.
But to her surprise, there was absolutely no sign of what Ma Yun had described at "first the house of desolation" - the dormitory . Shouldn't it be bustling with people and rooms, and most importantly, a canteen? Where is that all ?? Yet, as she looked around, all she could see was the same eerily silent corridor they had been walking in all along. Where on earth were the canteen and the dormitory?
Ma Yun didn't even bother turning around as he rushed forward, leaving Ai Yu in his dust. "Don't you dare move!" he shouted over his shoulder. "Just stay put right here. I'll be back in the blink of an eye!" And with that, he vanished into thin air.
As Ai Yu stood there, feeling a mixture of hunger and irritation, she couldn't help but question Ma Yun's sanity. "Is he absolutely nuts?" she muttered to herself, exasperated.
Ahh!
In an instant, a powerful grip clamped over her mouth, forcefully pulling her backwards into an enigmatic room. Aiyu desperately kicked and flailed, her voice muffled by the firm hand. The captor swiftly shut the door, intensifying her panic.
Wo Luo's ominous words , she suddenly remembered those .....
"But it also means that many cursed devils, who are outside the protection layer, may approach you. Their requirement is the black blood of the celestial realm." ( TL chapter 26 )
Her body trembled with the mere thought that this could be the person Wo Luo had warned her about. One singular idea consumed her mind, overpowering all rationality.
Yet, it was peculiar. She had not breached the protective barrier, and she certainly wasn't a black blood human, though she had pretended to be one to preserve her own life. But what if this was an evil spirit, ravenous and merciless? The fear in her mind was so intense that her face betrayed her, displaying sheer terror. Beads of sweat dripped down her forehead as she desperately pleaded, "Oh Lord, I am ready to face whatever awaits me. Grant me a swift and painless death, I implore you." She silently begged, her pleas resounding dramatically in her mind.
