Shadow walked into her younger sisters room and gently took the blankets off her sister head. Sure everything in their was falling apart... blankets included but Solar felt safer hidden under them and Shadow couldn't exactly blame her little sister. She shook her sisters shoulder softly "come on sis... time to get up." she said softly and moved some hair from her sisters face.

Solar groaned faintly and propped herself up on a pillow. She looked at her older sister and hugged her, her eyes red and classy... she had cried herself to sleep again.

Shadow sighed softly and wrapped her arms around her sister "shh little sun, todays gonna be different ok?" she said and rubbed her sister back "somethings going to change ok? it just has too" Shadow sighed and her mind slipped back to her last boy friend. She shook it from her mind and helped her sister up "lets get you ready for collage" Shadow was so proud of her sis, Solar had worked hard her whole and scored a full scholarship to MIT with 4.0 GPA.

"You always say things'll change..." she sniffled softly and got dressed "they never do..." she trailed off and grabbed some toast from the kitchen

"oh little sis... i know they dont but didn't you win a trip to Wakanda?" she grinned and kissed her sister head softly "you got to learn the best, now you get to go to a amazing country and help the best of the best do their thing..." she purred "mama would be so proud little one" Shadow knew she couldn't wreck her sisters day, especially not today but bills were piling up... she wouldn't be able to afforded their apartment much longer even working full time.

Solar smiled and looked into her sisters bright brown eyes with her red ones nodding slightly "yeah..." she said sadly "i wish she was here" discarding her casual wear she threw on a bright yellow dress. "I think this'll make a better impression on king T'challa" she hummed. She gasped and ran to the bathroom, she nearly forgot to do her hair.

Shadow laughed lightly as her sisters tell tale forgetfulness began to show through, they only had cheap clothes but at least the dress her sister grabbed was clean and relatively new.

"hey sis?" Solar poked her head out her hair braided into an extremally beautiful bun "should I put my contacts in? What if he sees my eyes and thinks im a freak or what if he hates me like the others?" she was clearly anxious and overthinking everything.

Shadow sighed and hugged her sister "... leave them." she said softly "you might not look like him but that's not what he's after, your eyes are a part of you, they are part of who you are. Sure, you're unique but that makes you so so beautiful" she said gently

Solar nodded and placed the contacts on the counter before waiving to her sister and walking out, she lifted her head high... her mother would've wanted her to be proud of her achievements.

shadow sighed and dressed for the next day, nothing special... just the normal uniform the cafe makes employees wear. It shows her off in ways she never liked, always attracting unwanted attention from men in there 40's. Grabbing a piece of toast Shadow walked out sighing heavily.
