Narrative

Apparently, a lot can happen between a particular winter spirit and a human in a single month.

Jack Frost and Arabella de Moray both loved each other-it was clear the night they kissed.
Jack loved Arabella mainly because he had slowly developed a romantic interest in her as he protected her. She was unlike any human girl he had ever met-she was kind, strong, independent, brave, smart, and sweet, and even with the suffering she went through she managed to smile every day. Anyone else would go insane with the horrid atmosphere Arabella lived in, but the girl managed to pull through and live on. He admired her, actually, but most of all he loved her. And it wasn't the typical flowery feelings of a first love-it was serious, raw feelings of true love, and it was a little strange for Jack. He knew that if he ever lost her, or if she left him, he would be hurt severely.
Arabella loved Jack for many reasons. He was everything she could ask for-he was a gentlemen, he was polite, sweet, caring, understanding, handsome, and he had the mischievous streak that made him all the more appealing. But she knew that this was probably her true love-Arabella knew that they had a connection that could not be broken. Over the course of a month, much like Jack, she realized that she loved the Guardian to dearly to ever let him go.
Of course, they got to know each other. Jack would come to Arabella almost every night, and either they would go somewhere or they would just stay in Arabella's room and talk. The couple realized that they were almost exactly the same-both of them were lonely, unseen outcasts. Both of them had common interests also-they liked the same music, had similar opinions on a multitude of topics, they liked the same movies and books, etc. It grew to a point where it was a little odd, but the couple didn't care.
In that month, all they knew was each other. And it was bliss.

But from afar, in the shadows, someone else joined them in those precious moments. Golden eyes shined through the slithering, stretching shadows, gray hands clenched into tight fists. Pitch Black watched the Guardian and the human unnoticed, his eyes full of hatred. Of course, he hated Jack Frost before anyway-he had been a part of his demise when he tried to rule the world with his fear and Nightmares. But this only made Pitch hate him more, and it was very clear why-he was jealous.
After being alone almost since the beginning of time, Pitch had started to feel isolated. There was no one to share his victories with, no one to help him defeat the Guardians once and for all. Even though the Nightmare King denied it even to himself, he knew that he wanted someone to love as much as anyone else did, if not more. Yet here was the younger winter spirit, and after 300 years he suddenly found his soul mate, practically gift-wrapped and handed to him by the Man on the Moon.
It wasn't right in Pitch's mind-didn't he deserve to be loved? Didn't he deserve to have someone to love and cherish?
Yet there was another reason why Pitch was jealous, and he couldn't deny it anymore.
The Nightmare King started to fall in love with Arabella.
Much like Jack did, Pitch admired Arabella's strong spirit and personality, and on top of that she was beautiful. And though she was like Jack Frost in many ways, she also had darker elements like Pitch-she had her dark moments, her times of despair where she did not believe in anything except sadness and fear, the periods of doubt and pain she had.
The grandest thing for Pitch was that Arabella's greatest fear-besides her stepfather-was her nightmares.
Even if Pitch denied it to himself, it was in the back of his mind-he knew he loved her. And perhaps this was why he was so jealous.
So he watched the couple angrily, but it proved to be a wise choice. When Jack and Arabella were together, they revealed everything to each other. Over the course of the month, he knew about Arabella's 'Guardian vision', and almost everything else about the Guardians that he hadn't known before.
With this knowledge, Pitch intended to destroy the Guardians once and for all.
Oh, and he would relish the day that Jack Frost finally fell. Then Arabella would be his.

The Guardians were prepared, however, or at least somewhat. Jack and Arabella discussed some plans so when Pitch actually did threaten Arabella and the rest of the children, she would be taken someplace safe. The couple knew that it was going to take a lot to separate them.

However, perhaps a certain spirit of fear could do just that.
