Awaking with a start, he realised two things. The door was wide open, and he was freezing. Hyrule didn't remember opening the door before he went to sleep, in fact, he was sure it had been shut and locked.
Huh.
Still clad only in his baggy tracksuits and a thin t-shirt, he stepped through the open doorway into the pitch black of the outside, the cold chilling him to his bones.
Looked left, right.
There was nobody there, not even that irritating bird. Hyrule made a small 'huh' of surprise; he'd been so, so sure that someone had opened his door. He should get that latch fixed, but really, when it was always so quiet round here, what was the point?
Shutting the door, tugging on it firmly to make sure it was actually shut this time, Hyrule turned off his kitchen light and turned to go back to his bedroom.
A sharp, cold blade buried itself hilt deep in his ribcage, and Hyrule made a pathetic wheeze. 'Oh' he thought. 'I think I'm going to die'
There was a figure outlined in inky black, almost indistinguishable from the wall behind them. Hyrule staggered sideways, and the pommel of a dagger was slammed into his skull, sending him flying backwards, barely still standing. A second knife lodged itself in his abdomen. Hyrule felt for his side with spasming fingers and felt only a nauseating mixture of sharp metal and warm wetness.
He choked and spat, iron tasting liquid filling his mouth.
Hyrule collapsed forwards, landing heavily on his face, vision flickering, stabbing pain fading.
It was too late for him.
By the time Warriors found him, he'd been dead six hours.
